Faster Video Render on Mac Question ...

I'm wondering if it's possible to connect several Mac computers together to get faster render times? And if so, how is that done? I'm using a late 2009 Mac Pro system and I get pretty good render times but on those occasions when I pile on the filters/plugins, it really slows the rendering times down a lot. Anybody have experience with this???

What program are you using?

Depending on the program, some can use multiple render mode on a network. Some are easy to set up and some are a pain in the ass..

You can't connect the computers together to run faster all the time, though.

I'm using Premiere Pro CS6. I'm on a late 2009 Mac Pro. 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core w/16GB Ram. I can render a 15-minute DSLR edited scene w/basic color correction in about 40 minutes but when I start piling on filters/plugins, it can be upwards of 4 to 6 hours to render. For example, somtimes if the scene was shot with high ISO, I want to use a noise reduction plugin to clean up some of the noise and that can really add to the render times. Also filtration and sharpening can slow down the render times a lot.

It's not a huge deal but if I can figure out how to speed up the render times, I'd love to do it :winkwink:

This works if you're using a CUDA NVIDIA GPU with at least 896MB on board memory and DDR3-DDR5 speed RAM:
