This seems to be a case of an idiot not listening to the cops and an overly aggressive cop looking for a reason to use his gun. Not a good combination.

Had homeboy listened and stopped when the police told him to he would still have his dog, but I doubt the cops really needed to shoot it.

So a man with his dog in the middle of the night entered an area police had shut down while looking for an armed suspect, the man refused orders, they went to arrest the man, and the dog understandably got aggressive.

I have a dog, a black lab. Friendliest dog in the world, never bit anyone. But I'm pretty sure that if police bitch smacked me around my dog would nuts.

Sorry, the man should have complied with police orders.

i have a 45lb shepherd and people are scared of him quite often, but same. he's never bit anyone and more or less is kind of a big pussy. has a big bark but thats about it. not saying the dog deserved this, but sounds like the owner put himself in a bad situation

even if the guy would have complied it was dark out and the dog was probably going to defend his buddy, since dogs know when something is wrong it would probably of been shot anyways.

part of looking after your dog is avoiding bringing them into dangerous situations. walking in a marked off areas qualifies..

One of the issues that people are missing out on here is this. That breed of Dog is NOT aggressive and do NOT attack. they are called retrievers for a reason and used as such for a reason.

Should the guy walking the dog have been arrested? Yep.

Should the dog have been shot, No.

Should the officer face at the very least administrative punishment, yes.

Should he be sued and the PD be sued. yes.

The dog's owner is a fucking idiot; I watched it a couple times now; and it was a a Labrador, golden retriever mix, so the "it's a golden" reaction is not accurate. Looks more like a lab if you know dogs.

Without audio, really hard to say if it was being aggressive or not, I even went back and watched again while typing this (for the second time). The way the dog was pulled back when his owner was dropped I am pretty sure the dog was being aggressive.

I love how a dog owner basically puts his dog into a dangerous situation, then escalates the situation even more - to the result of his dog getting shot. And people are angry at the cops. Cannot understand how fucked people are on placing responsibility.

Whoever is assigning blame to the cop has not watched the video closely and/or does not know dogs very well.
