War Games (1983)
This is a great movie, watched it back then in the 80's and watched it again now...
Amazing movie, can't believe it was made in 1983. The guy writing the story was definitely a visionary. |
Saw it lots of times - excellent movie for sure. Don't waste your time watching Wargames II though. Pure shite.

I saw it a few months ago (also on Youtube I think), and was surprised how good it was. I'd forgotten everything about it, and expected it to be way too cheesy and dated.
When I first started watching it I thought it wasn't even the right movie, because I couldn't remember any of the first five minutes, with Michael Madsen. |
I loved War Games.
Funny how Hackers came out later, but that one is really dated. It was hilariously bad. Hackers really makes you cringe. |
Looks like a good movie
|
One of my top 5 favs for all time for sure, loved that movie, the general saying, "Well, shit, I'd piss on a spark plug thought it do any good." is one of the funniest lines ever :D
|
Loved War Games. Speaking of '83, I just watched The Howling tonight, and it seemed much better back then.
|
seen it a dozen times over the years :thumbsup:thumbsup

The original '83 Wargames will never be dated. It's timing back then was impeccable, but there will always be stigma in the world about a nuclear war starting up "by accident" or otherwise, thus the movie will always be worth watching.
But yeah, it does help if you were alive at the time and saw it when it first came out. Makes it that much more meaningful. |
if u watch at the very end of War Games, after all the credit... Matthew Broderick walks to the camera and says... What are you still doing here? There's no more 300 baud, go home, get out of here.
|
i played whore-games back in 83...

Missed it, have to watch it, thanks for the recommendation!
|
Ahh haven't seen that since about 1989. Time to give it a re-run! Thanks for the reccy :)
|
I enjoyed the movie Hackers (1995) and it sort of holds up nowadays.
|
Another good movie from the 80's with Matthew Broderick is "Ferris Bueller Day Off"...
but I can't find it free on youtube... I know that US People have a section called MOVIES in YouTube, is it available there? So I can connect via VPN tunnel with the US host and watch it. :) Otherwise, the Great Swedish Site will probably do the trick. :) |

got me into computers. i remeber getting a modem for my bbc b computer thinking i could hack into all the worlds banks. instead i spent hours online on an old version on the net (i forget its name). chatting to girls in sweden (i think). ps note the irony that we spend all day moaning about piracy and people posting content on forums, and thinking they should know better, while we do the same by posting full films. i am not having a go, just pointing out that if we think its ok, then its a bit silly thinking that those posting on porn forums should find it wrong. |
