The storm is barely getting started. This is really gonna test any NJ datacenter's emergency preparedness....

Willie Glass, Atlantic City's public safety director, told the Associated Press that "most of the city is under water."

as per usual the fucking media is blowing this thing totally out of proportion, look at the 1st shot, the water is to the bottom rim of the tire, not saying it's not serious, but come on now, they are playing it like the biggest fucking disaster that ever happened or is going to happen.:2 cents:

Pretty sure they have a lot of basements out there; if there is standing water even a few inches that is going to cause havoc.

rowan 10-29-2012 04:04 PM

Ah shit, one of my main servers is in a NJ DC. Didn't even think of that until now. Doing a backup, and thinking about how to set up something temporary in the event my server goes offline. :thumbsup

I know it's wrong and selfish but I keep thinking about all the lost sales.

I've never been in a home on the shore that had a basement. At least not in the beach towns. Maybe a few miles off the coast.

DedicatedNow and Fortress are somewhere in that area.

Babaganoosh 10-29-2012 09:35 PM

Phoenix data center for the win.

Redrob 10-29-2012 09:48 PM

Last time I was there, I decided that Atlantic City is pretty much a shithole once you get off the boardwalk.

I'd take this opportunity to declare a disaster, condemn and rebuild.

Power is out for most parts of Garden City & Long Island, including the Webair.com Garden City facility. Currently, all systems are running on backup generators. The datacenter will be manned 24/7 throughout the duration of the storm. As of now all systems are 100% ? More updates to follow.
