Thinking of switching to e-cig.. Need help.

So yeah, it's time.. Need to quit smoking badly.

I don't know jack shit about electronic cigarettes, could really use some advice on which one to buy and which tastes most like a normal cig. I know some people who have wasted a lot of cash before finding what works best for them, hopefully I can avoid that.

I bought a cheap 10 dollar one at a gas station and its total shit.. Anybody with some experience in this area would be greatly appreciated :thumbsup

I've just recently been trying the same thing here. I am a fairly heavy smoker and so far I've been able to use the NJOY brand to ease up some. I think it might be a step in the right direction as I don't really WANT to quit, but know that I really need to and should.

My only real complaint with them so far, other than the fact that they are definitely NOT a replacement, is that they do not last as long as the advertise.

I have tried a few different ones and this NJOY brand has been the best for me so far. It's the most feeling like a real cig, they actually cover it with what feels like real cig paper. It also is the most lightweight one I've tried yet.

I am looking to also try to Victory brand maybe as I have a friend that uses it and has gone off regular cigs completely for over a month now with that thing.

What I have found is that it really takes a very conscious effort, otherwise you will just end up spending more money on the ecigs in ADDITION to your regular smokes.

Best of luck to you!

Don't go with the pre-filled cartridges, use juice and fill them yourself. Also, don't just buy any old juice because there is a huge difference between cheapo juice and good quality stuff.

I personally use the Smokeless Image Volt hardware but I would not recommend their juice.

It's goddamn near impossible to find unbiased reviews since everyone's an affiliate but this Reddit sub is a pretty good discussion group:

moeloubani 10-27-2012 10:48 PM

how serious are you about it? i quit smoking after about 14 years of a pack / 2 days using ecigs about 2-3 months ago and haven't gone back...in that time i've learned TONS

basically you have a few types of ecigs some better than others for different people

you have the prefilled cartridge ones that look like real cigarettes, those to me seem like a gimmick and ive never heard any good things about those when it comes to people really going into quitting

then the next one up from that is the two part system with a battery and then something that screws on to it that you fill with the juice (can be a tank/clearomizer) which has a wick system that sucks up the liquid and then vaporizes it

then theres all sorts of ranges of those ones

if youre really wanting to get into it then buy this:

http://www.canvape.com/lavatube-lava.../lavatubes.htm
and then this: http://www.canvape.com/product-p/f16.htm and with it get a few refills of the cartos which are the piece that goes in the middle and soaks up the juice from the outside and allows you to vaporize it

juice you can get from different websites that has a concentration of nicotine in it i vape 18 concentration but i wouldnt go higher than that unless you know what you want

Thanks for the helpful info guys, will keep this in mind :)

For people that don't know much about them I would suggest going to http://www.v2cigs.com and getting one of their kits. They come with different flavors so you can get an idea what you like and they make the process not confusing. By the way, after you use one for a little while you won't want one that tastes like a cigarette, cigarettes actually taste fucking gross.

baryl 10-27-2012 10:58 PM

Definitely don't just get the highest nicotine concentration you can find. At first at least you'll probably hit the e-cig a lot more often than you actually smoke. The nicotine level in juice doesn't affect the "throat hit" feel as much as one might think.

GFED 10-28-2012 12:29 AM

NONE of the juices will taste like a normal cig... you'll have to get over that and try some other flavors. You can get ANY flavor you want... it's just food flavoring added to some vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol mix... with or without nicotine... i make my own juices because it's cheaper... but none of the "TOBACCO" flavors will ever taste like tobacco... they mostly taste like burnt hair...

If you're a real smoker those little ecigs that look like real cigs won't cut it for you... those are for people that smoke like one or two cigs a day... you're going to want to go with AT LEAST a 650 mah battery... I had to upgrade my EGO to a real PV (portable vaporizer) within the first two weeks... I suggest going straight for the PV, so you don't waste money on an ecig that you're going to have to recharge every two hours.

Here are the PVs I recommend...

THERMOVAPE (FOR ELIQUID)
http://thermovape.com/collections/e-liquid-vaporizers

SILVER BULLET
http://altsmoke.com/starterkit/silve...verbullet.html

Besides that you're going to have to decide on HOW you like to smoke your vape... I prefer either CARTOMIZERS or DRIPPING... cartos because it's simple and portable and dripping because it tastes better... here are a few with 510 connections that will work with the two PVs I lilsted...

FOR DRIPPING:

https://www.ikenvape.com/ProductDeta...uctCode=51018A
http://www.avidvaper.com/custom-hh-3...-510-atomizer/

CARTOS:
http://www.avidvaper.com/products/Bo...rtomizers.html
https://www.ikenvape.com/ProductDeta...uctCode=Plat20

I recommend getting PREMADE flavors here:

Coffee flavor is a good alternative to tobacco, feel free to try the tobacco flavors but IMO they all taste like SHIT... I prefer fruit flavors myself...

http://www.juicyvapor.com/
http://www.tastyvapor.us/

I get supplies to make my own liquid from here:

http://wizardlabs.us/

If you're looking for more info about vaping, hit up YOUTUBE and http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

BUT like I said, if you're a real smoker, get a FULL SIZED portable vaporizer like I listed above...

yEA, stay away from anything higher than 24mg/mL... I started with 24 and worked my way down to 12...

throat hit has more to do with the amount of propylene glycol (PG) in the mixture... but the nicotine does have SOME effect...

Check out the ego, battery lasts me about three days and my kit is about two years old now. About time for me to order a new one. Got it from cignot.com

I dislike the E-Cigarettes. I was taking in more nicotine with the one I had, Simply because with a regular cigarette (Although its worse for you) At-least you know when the regular cigarette goes out you had a cigarette worth of nicotine. With the E-cigarette I could not tell when I was getting enough, and when I had been taking in too much nicotine. Got Sick a couple times.

I am thinking of going to unfiltereds

xp-ViT 10-28-2012 04:48 PM

Don't try e-sig. Better stay on regular sigs and read Allen_Carr-Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking.pdf. It's greatest book!!!

Spunky 10-28-2012 05:05 PM

E cigs worked for me .was smoking over 30 years. got my brother and a few friends on them too

georgeyw 10-28-2012 05:24 PM

They are a great way to quit, makes it extremely easy.

Just be careful with how much nicotine yo uuse, as you can get ver ysick! I only used nicotine for the first two weeks and then just used the e-cig.

Nicotine is the addictive component of tobacco smoke.

Nicotine causes hardening and narrowing of the arteries with the resulting circulatory problems, heart attacks, and strokes. Carcinogens are in the smoke component.

You are more likely to drop dead from other causes that are in the nicotine then lung cancer from the smoke.

Yes. I smoked for 40 years and am in bad health from nicotine's effects on my circulatory system and not from lung cancer.

I never said the smoke was good for you but a small number of smokers develop lung cancer.

Compare that with a 68-year-old man who has smoked two packs a day for 50 years and hasn't quit. He has a 1-in-7 chance of getting lung cancer by his 78th birthday.

My ABI index in my legs went from .27 (possible limb morbidity) to better than .67 12 months after I stopped smoking -- I haven't smoked for over 3 years now. I needed cyroplasty in the femoral artery in one leg to compress 2 blood clots that were over 90% -- the insurance company paid $35K.

Toxicology

The LD50 of nicotine is 50 mg/kg for rats and 3 mg/kg for mice. 0.5-1.0 mg/kg can be a lethal dosage for adult humans, and 10 mg(0.1 mg/kg) for children.[2][4] Nicotine therefore has a high toxicity in comparison to many other alkaloids such as cocaine, which in mice has an LD50 of 95.1 mg/kg. A person can overdose on nicotine through a combination of nicotine patches, nicotine gum, nicotine inhaler cartridges and/or tobacco smoking at the same time.[5][6] Spilling an extremely high concentration of nicotine onto the skin can result in intoxication or even death since nicotine readily passes into the bloodstream from dermal contact. ...
