I Fucking Hate Enterprise Rent A Car

I've been a long time customer well over 4 years. I spend around $1000 a month for my rental. I'm a little over a week late on my rewrite on my contract and I know people that are months late but I was busy in a different city shooting something and I told them i'll be back friday. I come in on friday I have over $100,000 worth of camera equipment in my car with other valuable person items.

I paid a shitload of money to pay off a contract and put a deposit on my new contract. After money was paid he's like oh can I see your license again, I told him shit I left it at home you got it from me last week he's like yeah I know we do frequent I guess random checks. I told him it's 5:50 pm you close at 6pm and it's at home I'll bring it on Monday I accidentally left it in my other pants.

You would think almost 5 fucking years of monthly rentals tens of thousands of dollars they would cut me some fucking slack, oh hell no!!! Not only didn't they work with me they said you can't even come back here anymore since you just moved to Calabases and you're no longer in our district. Even if i found my license my business isn't wanted. So they took the keys from me when I placed them down and they said if I where to leave with the car they would call the cops and report the car stolen even with the car paid for. He also told me he would provide me with trash bags and I need to fill them up and leave the property. $100,000 and almost 400 lbs of equipment and I'm fucking stranded are you fucking kidding me???

I had no choice but to risk leaving the majority of the shit in the car and walk with my hands full for over a fucking hour and take the bus and cab 20 miles and several hours later back to my house. I was on my way to work to deliver the cameras for a massive Hollywood event and they had to cancel the event and I lost my fucking job.

I mean seriously all this fuck had to do was look at my license they don't need proof they saw my license. He could have waited till Monday I've never been late on paying or anything in 4 years. They knew I would be stranded and fucked. I probably don't have a legal case unless I can prove they stranded me on purpose and stole all my camera equipment. I agree there are rules but when someone is stranded and he's a valued long term customer thats never fucked over the company he should have done something or offer to hold my stuff at the least

so big shot you couldn't call a cab or even a fucking limo to take you and your shit to your destination? you just left your valuables in the rental (200k worth non the less) and took the bus home? really?

oh here's an idea for you. BUY A CAR.

oh here's another idea for you, if you are driving a rental, have your driver license on you at all times.

dave90210 10-27-2012 02:21 AM

It's complicated I didn't have the luxury of calling a cab or limo. They almost never check my license when I do rewrites and the the car was paid for already. They basically held my shit ranson and closed the gate 10 mins later. I didn't have time to call someone or a limo to pick the shit up. They didn't even give me time to take my shit out of the car and threatened to call the police if i didn't leave

you didn't have a spare $20 to call a cab or whats so complicated?

threatened to call police? let them call the police, I would call police myself if I had 200k worth of shit in the rental and they are not letting me take it out.

me thinks there are two more sides to this story, the clerk's side and the truth :)

dave90210 10-27-2012 02:44 AM

They threatened me because I got pissed when they told me to bag my shit up as much as I can carry and leave. I told him wait a friend is coming but it'll take them 20 mins to get there and the african chick working their said hell no I got to go home. They told me I was trespassing and I didn't want to leave until I got all my stuff.

You apparently don't live in Los Angeles. If you call the cops it takes them hours to respond unless it's a shots fired call. At best with this if they steal my shit it will be a civil case.

Basically they told me to leave because I was extremely pissed when they told me they wouldn't wait for my business partner to show up with the car. I knew once that gate is locked I'm never going to see my shit ever again

TubeSubmitters 10-27-2012 02:46 AM

ok, thanks for sharing

kane 10-27-2012 03:02 AM

Okay, I don't want to pile on here, but if a friend was coming why not just pile your gear up right outside their lot or gate or whatever it was and wait the 20 minutes for you friend to arrive and take you home?

AllAboutCams 10-27-2012 03:19 AM

I don't get why you would not call a taxi and take your stuff with you even if they did call the police

dave90210 10-27-2012 03:40 AM

They wouldn't give me time to get the stuff out of the car. I needed help the stuff is heavy I can't lift it on my own.

What I woulda done is said go ahead call the cops, at least in that case it will give you more time to get everything out of the car.

ilnjscb 10-27-2012 04:38 AM

Support here - the rental companies are full of shit. I have contract like that - for those saying buy a car, try deducting an owned vehicle vs a rental contract.

I don't understand it either. It is very easy to switch companies, yet they still treat you like crap.

Good luck getting it all back together.

suesheboy 10-27-2012 04:50 AM

If you drive a car, you know you need your license with you at all times you operate a vehicle.

FreeHugeMovies 10-27-2012 08:17 AM

Always have your license. Buy a car

L-Pink 10-27-2012 09:13 AM

Corporate America no longer gives a fuck. Their employees have no leeway to treat anyone outside of what is specified in their training manuals. You were privileged to have the honor of giving them your money.

Next time go to a locally owned major brand new car franchise, sit down with management, tell them how much you'll spend on rentals they will treat you like a king.

.

I would have called the police on them. It would have made them stick around for a while and a reasonable cop would have seen that they were being unreasonable. Worse case scenario, it would have bought you time for a friend to show up.

Yeah, something isn't adding up. He's renting a car for five years in his home town, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars? And he's running around with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear yet he's flying a little rinky dink "sell your website here" link in his siggy?

Hmmmmm.

I say his 1984 Carmaro (with t-tops!) broke down and he had to rent a sub compact for a week, and left his cell phone in the car when he returned the car after his credit card was declined.

docputer 10-27-2012 09:27 AM

It is funny, Enterprise is currently running a national advertising campaign stating that any employee in the company has the power to do whatever it takes to make a customer happy and satisfied.

fatfoo 10-27-2012 09:46 AM

You left license at home. These kinds of technicalities can slow down the whole process. Hmm.. they refused even after 5 years of monthly rentals. They could say, “your business is not wanted” – this is problematic. They care about whether you are in their district for a long time. They would report the car stolen – this sounds serious. Stranded with $100,000 of 400 lbs equipment – this sounds very unfortunate. You lost your job because you could not deliver to a Hollywood event. It is not certain whether you have a legal case. It is important whether they have human memories of long term customers besides just checking licenses and documentation. Trying to calculate emotional damages (if any) is often times too difficult.

ottopottomouse 10-27-2012 09:55 AM

Hahahahaha, you've been fatfoo'd.

Good luck / Karen O / She is beautiful / Error: Simplewikipedia does not know that word.

GAMEFINEST 10-27-2012 10:36 AM

Shit dont add up bro.

ImLarge 10-27-2012 10:37 AM

Enterprise Rent A Car is the worst, the only reason i use them now, is cause my niece hooks me up

buzzard 10-27-2012 10:55 AM

Long term customer appreciation is not in their system. They suck +1

2012 10-27-2012 11:03 AM

they suck :2 cents:

Klen 10-27-2012 11:06 AM

I just checked prices of local rent a car a company and it seems it cost 60$ daily lowest price.Considering a decent used car cost only 2000$,i would say buying is cheaper if you need to use it often.

Lease a car for the company. Alot cheaper and you can deduct vehicle expense.

SilentKnight 10-27-2012 03:44 PM

Your rental car account was in arrears.

You had no driver's license with you.

You went in near closing time to deal with the situation.

And it was the clerk's fault you got stranded?

Ok, good story bro. :thumbsup
