Search Engine Gurus - short question
I have a question regarding dynamic pages:
will a random mainpage get me banned on google?? i mean... i use epowertrader on a few domains sorting the traffic based on the referer i for example send hits from sites without popups to a popup free mainpage and other way around and i also have totally different index pages that randomly changes on every visit will this get me PR0 ??? WG and co. can you help me out on this one ;) Thanks |
I'm not 100% sure on it, but i think I did see one guy get penalized for it.

Try asking the owner of searchengine.com
|
who does not know shit about searchengines
otherwise he would not have a PR4 |
Dynamic pages get more google weight.
But change too much and be penalized. |
Don't bother looking around PPT for any SE optimizations.. PPT was only supposed to be a 30-90 day project for us, never tried to get any SE ranking with it as we already knew how to get ahold of +/- 90% of our target clients.

dont get what you want to say dude
ppt??? i have no clue what you mean |

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but it just sounds like your home page changes based on the referrer. If that's the case, then when a google spider visits your page, they should get the same page all the time while surfers might get a different page. Unfortunately, this could be seen as cloaking your pages and might get you penalized, but I doubt this would happen since you're not using cloaking in an effort to increase your rankings (right?). While it is borderline, I think you should be alright.
However, if your index page changes all the time (not specific to any surfer based on referrer), then Google should just see this as a page that updates often. For example, any TGP changes everyday with a new set of links so it just means you change the page daily. No big deal, if anything, you might get spidered more often such that the google cache keeps an updated copy of your site like CNN (they get spidered more frequently). Hope this helps, if not, just be more specific in your question and I'll try to answer you. WG |
thanks WG for the answer
to be more specific: i have a cj with 3 different Mainpage templates which are randomly change by the script when ever a surfer visits the index.php and i also redirect based on the referer lets say trade A does have a good prod on Template 1 but not on 2&3, then i send all his vistors to Main 1 only trade B might do good with Main2, then the mainpage for his traffic will be Main Template 2 only is clear what i mean....??? hope so im simply unsure if i am going to get problems because of that since googlebot will see 3 different index.php page when it comes to my site from different referrers i also dont know what template google will pick to put in the archive thanks in advance |

Redirection is not usually a good thing. It's better that you make your index.php page a "loader" page. Basically have the index page figure out which of the 3 templates you want to load and have that template load within the index page. Don't redirect users, search engines don't like this. By using this loading approach, it will appear to google your page is simply changing every time they spider you.
