fuckin A!!!!!!

CurrentlySober 10-24-2012 11:05 AM

Looks good !

One question - Does (as I assume) the term 'red band' trailer mean its more of an explicit trailer? Or something else?

bronco67 10-24-2012 11:06 AM

Looks good, but it's directed by a feature film first timer. At least it's produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, so that might be good.

Now thats what I'm talking about. Nice.

A green band is an all-green graphic at the beginning of the trailer. Until April 2009, these cards indicated that they had been approved for "all audiences" and often included the movie's MPAA rating. This signified that the trailer adheres to the standards for motion picture advertising outlined by the MPAA, which include limitations on foul language and violent, sexual, or otherwise objectionable imagery. In April 2009, the MPAA began to permit the green band language to say that a trailer had been approved for "appropriate" audiences, meaning that the material would be appropriate for audiences in theaters, based on the content of the film they had come to see.

Trailers that do not adhere to these guidelines may be issued a red band, which indicates approval for only "restricted" or "mature" audiences. These trailers may only be shown before R-rated, NC-17-rated, or unrated movies (only films that are released in theaters rated R and not in theaters rated PG-13). These trailers may include nudity, profanity or other material deemed inappropriate for children.

I'm actually looking forward to this remake. In all honesty, it looks like the movie Sam Raimi would have made if he had a big budget.

It's a bit weird to imagine/see someone else as Ash, but realistically, Bruce Campbell is just too old to reprise the role, so I'm okay with it.

SykkBoy 10-24-2012 11:31 AM

I'm not generally a fan of remakes, but this one looks pretty good and with Raimi/Tapert/Campbell producing behind the camera, in my mind, it's basically just another chapter in the Evil Dead saga.

I may have missed it, but isn't Ash's character a chick in the remake?

I'm psyched to see it. Love Evil Dead/Army of Darkness

I watched it with the sound down low, but I think that I did read somewhere that "Ash" is a girl this time around. I wasn't positive from watching a sound-off trailer because there was a guy toward the end of it that had a chainsaw. But then, the chick was about to cut off her hand, so....

I should watch it again with the sound on...lol

thanks for the link, love it, it was killer then, hopefully again!

Yeah the chick cutting her "possessed" looking hand off is who I assumed was Ash.

Not a fan of the self mutilation stuff. It isn't scary or entertaining to watch.

and female Ash is gonna be fail.

I would've much rather have seen them incorporate the possessed grandmother in the cellar from ED2. That was the highlight of the entire series imo. And afterall, ED2 was more of a remake than anything, so they could've easily included it while still being faithful to the source material.

The original Evil Dead came out in 1981. When I first saw the trailer for Cabin in the Woods, I thought to myself, "Looks like an Evil Dead knock-off." :1orglaugh

Well, from what I can tell, there is no character named "Ash" in the remake. So they could have two people assuming parts of the Ash character from the original...

While there is no one named Ash in the remake, the lead has been called the female Ash since the early beginnings

Even with Lilly Collins dropping out and the chick from Suburgatory filling in, the character is still referred to as the female Ash.

Exactly. The original was pretty hardcore for the time, they really didn't get to the funny stuff until 2, so it makes sense to get truly hardcore with the original. I was worried but pleased with the trailer. Also read that Raimi and Campbell were being careful to keep out pop culture references etc. and keep it timeless.
