Server Setup / Mapping Opinions Needed
Hey Everyone, I'd like to get your opinions on a new project I am working on. I have things pretty much mapped out - but I am smart enough to know it never hurts to listen to other opinions/pov's when it comes to programming or sys admin.
For this project I have a total of 4 servers running CentOS. Multiple sites will be administered by ElevatedX and the affiliate program/tools via NATS. I have a lot of content to deal with and HD video to encode. I am wondering - if processor and drive space were of no object (within reason) and traffic to be moderate/heavy, what would be ideal in your opinion for configuring the environment. Ex: Server1: Webserver Server2: EVX Server3: NATS Server4: Video Encoder - bigger processor for faster encoding The sites will also be streaming video of various bitrates via Wowza or Red5. Ideally where would you map/mount the content and stream it from? To be financially efficient would you sacrifice drive space for processing power on certain servers. I know this may be difficult to theorize because "within reason" and "traffic moderate/heavy" can be mountains or mole hills depending on who or what program. Please assume what you will. |
Before I jump in, what do you consider heavy traffic?
