I think Win 8 will be like "Vista"....
In regards to "ehhh Ill skip this version and wait..." especially for Win 7 users...
In my situation Win 7 is perfect for my usees and this Win 8 is not worth it... What about you? |
I'm not going to upgrade anytime soon...
|
i use apple cause I'm a snob...
|
I'm not going to upgrade. Loved XP and I'm happy with 7 now.

Nokia has demo phones with a limited Win 8 here already had a chance to play around with it.
I think it's actually going to be a v good OS for phones (and tablets), but metro on a desktop is ridiculous. They should make classic shell the default on desktops/laptops and metro interface on touch devices only. They won't so blanket win 8 is shit statements will hurt desktop sales and prevent phones sales taking off when they could have had something good going on with the phones. |
It is faster than Win 7 on lower spec machines and once you work out where everything is its pretty good.
I will put Win 7 back on my main machine I think - But I will keep it on my NetBook. |
Yup no need for me to change from 7. Not yet anyway...
|
I use Microsoft Bob
|
i dont know..it comes on tablets also so lots of people will get it when they buy tablet. after that they will upgrade their desktop once they get familair with it.. vista sucked because it was slow and ,well,sucked..win8 looks great,it's fast etc
i'm gonna try it on another partition first.. |

As for Windows 8, it does have the funky Metro interface, but the reality is that once you get working you don't really notice it. I had set up a triple monitor test machine with two 19-inch monitors and a 15-inch touchscreen. Keeping the Metro interface on the touchscreen and swiping/touching that to run a program on the 19-inchers was pretty neat. When I upgrade to Windows 8 on my primary, that likely will be my permanent setup. Taking my hand off the mouse to swipe/touch the smaller screen on the side wasn't a big deal. |
I only use windows at all because of gaming compatibility, otherwise I would be on linux or maybe apple even.
I have heard that game developers are not excited about windows 8 at all and it seems MS is trying to push gaming off of the desktop and keep that all on the console side. There is a good chance Windows 7 will be my last MS product. |

It's a beta version, people. The finalized release no doubt will have help prompts and pop-up notifications that will advise newbies of where to click (or hover) to do what needs to be done, just like in EVERY other Windows release. Most of you automatically disregard all of the help messages that Microsoft embeds in its OS'es. For example, the machine I'm working from right now is one of my Win XP work machines. The minute I mouse over the Start button, a help notification pops up to tell me to "Click Here to Begin". I don't need it, but someone who wasn't familiar with Windows XP when it first came out probably did. |
Almost forgot...
When you get a brand new Windows machine there always is a Windows tutorial that pops up when you boot up the PC for the first time. Most of us advanced users automatically click the checkbox to "never show this again" and then shut that screen down. For the newly initiated, they always can watch that to figure out what to do. |
it still has regular windows desktop just without start button, what's the big deal of it being too complex ?

"Now who has put this out?" "Microsoft" "They're trying to drive me to Mac?" So suddenly he's an fucking Mac OS expert? As with everything there is a learning curve. When I first opened Windows 8 RC I was a bit confused as well. Doesn't take long to learn to use though, unless you like the idiot in video keep looking for 5 minutes in the same right bottom corner of the screen for Metro. When you figure out the top and corners are hotspots and using the Windows key, everything it pretty easy to learn/getting used to. Like mentioned already there will of couse be tutorials to get the newbs started in final release. If this 3-year old can be teached, so can an 80-year old. And last thing.. if you spent a week using Windows 8 and don't like it then fine. But don't come to the net posting crap because you just toyed with the OS in a store for 20 minutes. Your oppinion will have no value then. |
