Vodka and Seven Up.

Vodka and Orange Juice.

Vodka and Club Soda.

Vodka and Tonic Water.

Vodka rocks.

Basically vodka with anything or just vodka by itself.

Avoid mixers containing high fructose corn syrup though.

:thumbsup

Was almost going to switch to Whiskey and Coke, but maybe I'll go with Vodka instead.

The Ghost 10-19-2012 01:43 AM

Personally enjoy Gin Tonic but know a few guys that like Vodka Tonic. What type of Gin?

At this point in life I'm done drinking coke.

"Brown" liquors contain more nasties than does a decent vodka:

"One reason for the different effects of vodka and bourbon, Rohsenow says, could be that bourbon contains 37 times more toxic compounds than vodka does, including nasty organic molecules such as acetone, acetaldehyde, tannins and furfural. A good rule of thumb for liquors, she says, is that the clearer they are, the less of these substances they contain."

"Hangover Cures & Remedies

A hangover is caused by a combination of the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism (acetaldehyde), dehydration, and Vitamin A, B (particularly B6) and C depletion caused by the chemical action of alcohol on your system. The symptoms are usually a dry mouth, nausea, fatigue, dizziness and headache and are caused by a combination of these factors.

Apart from the obvious toxic effects, you should realise you're suffering the effects of a mild overdose of a depressant drug and your nerves are reacting accordingly, and you have also flushed a signifnicant quantity of vitamins and nutrients from your system causing a degree of metabolic shock that your body is struggling to compensate against. This is why hangover symptoms often include disorientation and "the jitters".

Some drinks give you worse hangovers than others due to the actions of impurities called Congeners. While it's the ethyl alcohol (ethanol) that gets you drunk, amyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol is also found in most drinks to varying degrees, and the concentration of these Congeners will go a long way to determining the severity of the hangover.

Vodka and gin (clear liquors) are generally lower in congeners than whisky, rum and bourbon, due to the filtering process involved, and hence usually give a less intense hangover. Unfortunately the congeners also give flavor, smell and appearance to alcohol.

Another contributor to the hangover is the "freshness" of the alcohol since the natural oxidation product of ethanol is also acetaldehyde. Finishing off an already open bottle of red, or drinking beer that's been in the boot of your car for a week, will provide you with a ready made supply of acetaldehyde so you don't have to wait for your liver to make it in order to have a really good hangover."

:thumbsup

The BEST vodka is vodka made from potatoes:

It also makes your "belly" bigger and makes you fart louder. Not a good solution IMHO. I suggest a good vine.

That's just an IMHO of a Russian who is supposed to love Vodka. Actually I really use Vodka, but not to get drunk but as a preventive measure when I feel that I've just got a cold. It's very effective among with a garlic and red pepper at the first stage of a flu (while your body temperature is still normal yet).

Theo 10-19-2012 05:36 AM

White sambuca with ice

L-Pink 10-19-2012 06:02 AM

Real Alcoholics drink Lysol

MiLo 10-19-2012 07:40 AM

If you are an alcoholic you really donīt have that much time to mix a drink.

Me? Tom Collins. Jameson, straight. Three Olive Tanqueray Martini. A river of beer.

CaptainHowdy 10-19-2012 08:57 AM

You should get to the point of being able to get drunk with pure water ...

I don't know about you guys... but for me there's no alternative to drinking vodka or tequila clean. No mixers, no ice, no splash of anything. Just a high quality top shelf bottle and a nice glass.

Spend a hundred bucks on a bottle and drink it clean, there's nothing better :)

American Craft Beers, DIPAs being my favorite

CDSmith 10-19-2012 12:39 PM

For the weight consious drinker,

FYI your average shot of vodka contains only around 59 calories. Mix it with any zero calorie softdrink or unsweetened fruit juice blend and there's your new go-to drink.

digitalfantasies 10-19-2012 01:17 PM

go for really complicated cocktails... makes you look less of an alcoholic.. you just really like to cook

cjr2006 10-19-2012 01:45 PM

alias 10-19-2012 01:52 PM

Heineken isn't bad, just picked up a 12 pack. I like to switch around to different beers to keep things interesting, but I generally drink beer.

And when I'm bloated from too much beer and want to keep drinking, I'll start on scotch. Unfortunately, that's a recipe for an epic hangover.

I have to admit, I have never been bloated from drinking craft beers; probably because they are not sucked down like a Coors or Budweiser.

I love craft beers too and IPAs are a favorite. The grocery stores have started picking up some too, which has been great. I can just grab some Dogfish Head now if I want or some other local brand or any of the Cigar City beers which are pretty good.

Here is a tip (or 2), for whomever.

1. Drink it out of a glass
2. Let it warm a little, will bring the taste out more (like wine).

Dirty F 10-19-2012 06:43 PM

Any brand of cheap perfume. Costs way less than a bottle of wodka and gets the job done quickly.

Stella Artois
Vodka + Anything
