So I tired Windows 8 at Best Buy today....
... and I could not figure out how to exit out of a program... the interface is REALLY cumbersome to use. I have over 20 years of experience with computers too... I say this is going to be another "Vista" experience but with a worse user interface.
I'll be keeping my Windows 7. PC sales are about to fall... hard. |
every other version of windows simply sucks ass.
|
I would still use Win XP if they wouldn't stop making XP drivers for latest hardware...
|
Still runng NT here

Windows 7 and NT 4.0 are the most divine versions of Windows OS in existence.

My main desktop has Windows 7 on it (which I love)...I'm not sure if I'll be moving to Windows 8 when it's released. I've been loving Arch Linux on my laptop so I might consider moving to that if I end up not liking Windows 8.
|
Windows 8 is great as long as you install 'classic shell'. With classic shell it is like windows 7 but better.
|
I still use win XP
Can't stand the look of folders in any other version. Even if I change it to any of the other options they have it still sucks. It's hard on the eyes when I'm scanning a bunch of them and looking for one in particuliar. |
Win 7 really does the job as it should from 2000, but they didt see cash in that, so they made some buggy versions :)

also when you buy it you spend 5 minutes learning interface - I am sure this tutorial will be built in. problem solved. |
Microsoft is going to dominate with this new os, you watch. When you want to buy something you'll buy it right from your main desktop screen from microsoft, by-passing everything else. I see this coming already.
Microsoft is a bit late to the game.... But I see what they are doing. |
I'm running the pre-release version on on e of my systems, and I'm starting to like it. It was tough for me to find some of the things I'm used to, but it makes sense once you start drilling down into it some. The Windows key is essential to good use. There's a ton of great commands mapped to that key which will get almost anywhere quickly.
|
---and it's really easy on RAM usage, I noticed.

Get through the 30 second ad, and the video will explain Retro UI, which basically mimics classic windows. |
Windows XP Pro x64 = best OS Microsoft ever made.
|
I just recently got windows 7 and it's nice. Plays well with my windows xp machines. Now 8 is already out.. it never ends.
|
I have Windows 8 on a test machine. It would be fine if they added the start menu back. This tablet view I am not a fan of.

About to install 8 preview :pimp

I am running XP on this with a super hopped up Win7 laptop sitting to the side (for about a year now). Eventually I will give it more of a try.

Vista's a pig on RAM, XP is a dream by comparisson. |
Good time to move to OS X or Ubuntu.

It seems like MS likes to alternate between awesome and garbage.
Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win Xp, Vista, Win 7, Win 8 |

by forcing people to get used to windows 8, it's going to make for a much more seamless transition into mobile devices (tablets, phones, etc)
then in the future when people pick up a microsoft tablet or phone, they'll intuitively know how to use it since it mimics their laptops / desktops... easier sell as long as it has the 'classic shell' i'll be fine with it... windows 7 was perfect as far as i'm concerned |
Windows 8 will be good when we all have touch screens...

I am REALLY happy with Windows 7
|
Full Windows 8 on a tablet and I might finally be interested in buying a tablet since it can run any program I want, not just apps.
But Windows 8 is part of a larger strategy so the Xbox, tablets, and windows phone all work exactly the same way. Microsoft is calling part of this "smart glass" where you can move seamlessly between each device. |

I spewed fire at Windows 8 when it was announced and after installing the Consumer Preview/beta. Ran it till RTM came out and installed it the day it came out. Recently I realized I went days, probably a week or more, without seeing the Metro/tile start/interface at all.
The OS would suffer form bad app design though, it's already evident many app designers are phoning it in completely and there are other apps that are pretty cool As for getting out of an app... Windows key on the keyboard to get out of apps or mouse in the top/bottom left corners |

Windows 7 is a fantastic operating system and works really well.
I tried the Beta of Windows 8 --- and I also had trouble with basic functions and getting around. What the fuck is wrong with you Microsoft? |
Fuckin Windows 8, iPhone 5, I'm just going to kill myself.
:Oh crap |
