How many countries have you visited?

How many different countries have you travelled to?

And no, business travel where you didn't have time to explore the country DO NOT COUNT! (i.e. airport-hotel-business meeting-hotel-airport)

What is your favourite country and why?

I've visited 25 countries and Spain and The Netherlands would be favourites. Spain for their love of life and The Netherlands for the weed and the Amsterdam vibe!

Please note: YOU DO NOT COUNT YOUR OWN COUNTRY!

If you've never left home, it's 0 not 1!

:1orglaugh

escorpio 02-15-2003 09:39 PM

Just Mexico and Canada. I would really like to vist Thailand and Hong Kong, though. Those are my travel goals.

USA
Canada
England
Scotland
France

Sad list, too. (Doesn't count a variety of airport stopovers and such.)

From what I can work out, Australia is the only place in the world where you cannot walk across a border and end up in another country. You must travel over sea.

Am I wrong?

New Zealand and Ireland are two more.

Yes, you are. Any place that is on an island that only contains one country is like that. For instance, Hawaii. Or Martha's Vinyard. Or Taiwan. Or New Zealand. Or... Well, you get the idea.

Er. You can walk from Ireland (Republic of Ireland) to Northern Ireland (Ulster, part of the UK). It's really easy.

LiveDose 02-15-2003 09:54 PM

How do you get permission to go outside the US, I might be interested...

I've been to Barbados twice... sure is nice there.

Damn! I forgot about NZ... (passes on chance to make a cheap joke here)

I guess I'll have to come up with another excuse now. I've never been out of Australia.

Does visiting Tasmania count as 'overseas'?

FlyingIguana 02-15-2003 11:20 PM

i've been to the states, but it was either seminars or driving through. nothing really exciting :/

Lily 02-16-2003 02:28 AM

Uruguay was pretty neat....I like parts of Mexico too, but not Mazatlan.

Does Vegas feel like a different country to any of the other Americans? Maybe it's just me, but it felt pretty weird. Like I was in a different universe.

DX 02-16-2003 02:35 AM

There's a bridge here in Holyoke that's commonly referred to as "The Bridge to Puerto Rico" that I've driven across many times...

does that count?

h0st 02-16-2003 04:07 AM

More than 20.

I've been travelling allmost all the europen countrys by train and then also cause I own lots of RCI time shares I've been visiting lots of other countrys and exotic places like bahamas, hawaji and some little islands on 7 day caribbean cruise.

Trax 02-16-2003 05:33 AM

i cannot fucking count that anymore
my parents used to travel a fucking lot
ive been nearly everywhere in the world
we even bought few houses where we traveled the most to
so for example:

1 crib in italy near a city called Bozen/bolzano (guys from italy correct me if i missspelled it hehe) where we used to ski

1 in portugal because my dad somehow loved the country

and last but not least 1 near LA in a city called laguna beach. a fucking nice house at the beach.
havent been there for more than 5 years. i think about spending this summer there - maybe we can have a webmaster party over there hehe

during my schooltime everybody was jealous because of my travel activities... hehehe --- poor fuckers
:1orglaugh

surely a lot of people know that shit too:
a: Where have you been during the summer holidays?
me: there, there and another week in our house in there

hahah

damn how i loved my schooltime heheh

JamesK 02-16-2003 05:41 AM

I would assume Japan could be included in the 'can't walk to a another country' thing.

I've been to 8 countries..but I am adding fast to my total. My years in university really strapped my money and my time but now all bets are off.

It is hard to pick a fave. I love Canada, I have been there many times, I wouldn't mind living there one day. I obviously liked England enough to stay. However, I have to say that as far as just a place to visit goes Belgium is my fave.
