Some of you remember a few weeks ago there was a thread about how coal miners were forced to participate in a Romney campaign event.

This turns out to be blatantly untrue. It made no sense at the time and still doesn't, why would an industry that Obama is trying to put out of business want to support the likes of him?

So you mean to tell me that EVERYONE who works at the mine is a Republican and EVERYONE who worked at the mine WANTED to TAKE THE DAY OFF and NOT GET PAID because they were ALL REPUBLICAN...

But I'm guessing that there was some Democrats mixed in they were forced to take the day off without pay.

I would probably think that most everyone in that crowd knows each other pretty well, they would have to, to be able to work in a place like a coal mine, they work more like a community and I would believe that seeing Obama spend so much effort on GREEN energy, when their lively hood is coal, I really don't think he would get a lot of support there.
US has a shit load of coal and the tech for burning it has improved a lot.

I never said that. I would actually assume quite the opposite. I assume that most of the coal miners are unionized and we're talking about Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, most likely Democrat.

Obama promised to put the coal industry out of business. That's their livelihood, why would they vote for somebody like that?

No...most people who own their own business vote for the business friendly party. That's why so many porn company owners vote Republican. The Dems make it too hard for a person running his own company to vote for them.

In the case of the miners: Obama specifically has went after fossil fuels as "bad". The whole Democrat party has. And they have pushed Green Energy.

BIG difference between Republicans talking stupid shit to appease the religious nut case right VS Obama and Democrats in The House & Senate actually taking actions that hurt these miner's livelihoods and families in real life.

I own my business. I have a business license and all. I opened it up when Bush was in office. Do you know what changed when the White House was over run by Democrats? Nothing. I still have my business license, still try to get out of my taxes, still working every day.

That's not what I said at all or implied.
The implication was unions are almost always hard-core Democrat, but Obama stuck a knife in their back and now they will vote for anybody but Obama, Democrat, Republican doesn't matter.

Their jobs, their livelihoods, way of life. Where these folks live there is more than likely very few other industries or at least not that pay as well as a mining job does.

The Dems have thrown themselves behind green energy in a big way. Even made statements about phasing out fossil fuels as quickly as possible.

For those coal miners and their families that is a REAL threat to their livelihoods.

I don't see how that's an assumption at all. If I were a coal guy, or an oil guy, or a gas guy...Obama would be the last person on Earth I'd want to see in office.

Slowly, back away from the computer and shut everything down, TV, refrigerator, washer and dryer, then turn off your lights and sit in the dark.

I feel that the Dems are anti-business. So does my doctor (he's a friend of mine). So does the guy who owns the nightclub I played at with my band on Friday. So does my Dad.

Other than nicknames on GFY whom I've never met and have no idea if any of them have made any real money...I don't personally know any guys with their own business who feel comfortable with the Democrats.
Keep in mind that I'm very socially liberal (as are my friends) and you see the conundrum it presents.
