Do you nofollow affiliate links?
Do you use nofollow on your affiliate links?
or Do you use a 301 (i.e. site.com/site/xyzporn.com)? Trying to figure out which would be better. |
nope... no sense doing it.

Yes I do.
I have a 301-redirect-script but I nofollow those links. |

It depends on the program and what's available to be gained.
If there is unique text content and the possibility the link can be indexed with my affiliate ID then no, but if the target page contains a canonical link, noindex meta tag, or the robots.txt file instructs the search engines to not index that page, then yes I usually add a nofollow rel tag when linking to it. But that is a last resort - I would prefer to link to something that might get indexed, so often end up linking to galleries as opposed to directly to the sites. Programs that use the aforementioned indexing chicanery on their galleries - like NastyDollars has recently begun doing, I usually skip altogether. :2 cents: |
I've made sales from the search engines indexing some my aff links. Hell no....let them follow.

I wish every webmaster would at least nofollow the affiliate links. I think a combo of nofollow + the 301 would be the best way to go. No sense in losing pr juice to a site that you do not control.
I too miss the days of affiliate links being indexed and showing in the results - but that was definitely years ago. Now it seems those old links are only helping the program sites rank above mine :( |
This is a pretty good topic. Any one got php scripts?
|
I don't no-follow. I don't care about that.
