The Japanese still love to fax.

Stephen 10-15-2012 06:12 AM

I've had to recently fax documents to registrars, billing companies and affiliate programs

It's not that they can't handle the technicalities of e-signed PDFs, but it's been my understanding that there is a different level of legal coverage to faxed documents than to e-mails (at least in the U.S.).

Not really -- must be bribed by the FAX thermal paper industry

SEC. 101. GENERAL RULE OF VALIDITY.
(a) IN GENERAL.?Notwithstanding any statute, regulation, or other rule of law (other than this title and title II), with respect to any transaction in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce?
(1) a signature, contract, or other record relating to such transaction may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforce- ability solely because it is in electronic form; and

In a contract Estoppel by acquiescence is a major factor also (e.g.; if there is payment made and accepted the contract is valid as if signed.)

1980 was a long time ago -- get with it ...

Spunky 10-15-2012 06:36 AM

The older people barely know how to use a computer, so faxing is more easier for them

Jesse202 10-15-2012 06:46 AM

I still fax all the time. Especially when you deal with the gov. It's all fax+mail.

Emil 10-15-2012 07:02 AM

I hate when people ask me to fax something, why the fuck would I own a fucking fax? To send 1 document every 7th year?

I have an all in one printer, like I would imagine a lot of people here do too. While I don't make use of the feature, it is a fax machine too.

Since the government uses it, and demands you do as well when dealing with them, it has at least another 20 years.

It is amazing that with their near unlimited budget they are so terrible with basic stuff. I was just on the US government patent site this AM. What a pos.

Sophie Delancey 10-15-2012 08:00 AM

I always get so disconcerted when people even mention faxing.

BradBreakfast 10-15-2012 08:03 AM

Sometimes it's done for security. Adobe PDF is still vulnerable to trojaned PDF files, so I think some do it for security.

Can't send a keylogger though a fax!

PAR 10-15-2012 08:04 AM

any fax sent to me go to my email and if someone wants a fax back and not a PDF emailed to them I just email to fax it.. I hate paper.

Stone tablets prevent that too, break out the chisels! :winkwink:

bigluv 10-15-2012 10:21 AM

I use a fax service, its still a pain in the ass but at least at my end I deal with all electronic files & scans.

CyberHustler 10-15-2012 10:41 AM

My printer does everything but fax :1orglaugh

I use TrustFax. Works like a charm. And my printer has a scanning function, so that completes the link. Previously I had to go to Kinkos to fax anything that once a year or so I had to actually do it. WHat a weird technology.

Doctor Dre 10-15-2012 01:25 PM

We still receive over 100 documents by fax everyday at our business, even with e-signing. People find it easier to use a public fax then to scan and send their documents.

fuzebox 10-15-2012 02:09 PM

I gave my fax machine to charity along with my betamax player :Oh crap

JFK 10-15-2012 02:27 PM

Just faxed something:thumbsup

Ya, my printer is a scanner/fax as well.
The only stuff I really fax are CCBILL split forms & docs to them.
Saves time & beats scanning each one, LOL! :2 cents:

Brujah 10-15-2012 03:02 PM

Can you use a fax machine at home without a land line?

Yeah to photocopy some documents :)

Kelli58 10-15-2012 07:52 PM

It has been an out dated technology for over a decade now but still yet billing companies and mortgage companies still seem to love the fax machine and use it like its going out of style.

Redrob 10-15-2012 07:57 PM

The fax machine brought down the Soviet Union. The government could no longer control the flow of information.
