During the coverage of the anti-war protest in London, with around 1 million people at Hyde Park, the channel 4 news crew interviewed an Iraqi woman who couldn't believe that anyone was out protesting against the fall of Saddam Hussain.

She said the people of Iraq were hoping for an attack on Saddam (which doesn't mean the cost of every Iraqi persons life) from the U.S. or whatever other country. She understood that Iraqi lives would be lost, but that lives are being taken every day under the current regime and that the cost of war would bring a better future for the people.

This is what Tony Blair stressed today in his speech, it's not about killing every Iraqi person in sight, but simply to get Saddam out.

The protestors on about saving lives, how the fuck would they know what it's like over there. Like you and me, they go to work (some of them) go home, and that's about it. We don't see anything on what really happens and we certainly don't have their problems.

That's why compairing Bush to Hitler on other threads is a joke.
Like someone else said on here, when your own troops are over ready for war, the last thing they need is to hear how their own country is against them. Sheeesh...

If they had said that from the beginning they would have had it much easier to get the war accepted.

Back in the day the German people saw Hitler as being their savior out of the misery they were in. It's all about brainwashing the masses, we all know that, right?

Bush and his government machinery is just not working as well these days, maybe because people are smarter and have learnt from the past and aren't as fucking egocentric anymore. The US government needs some historians amongst them, not just white-collared idiots on powertrips.

In all reality, the Iraqi citizens have plenty of food, they aren't murdered for being in disagreement with their government, they aren't forced to vote for Saddam, the women are treated very well, and there is absolutely no censorship and brainwashing there either.

But surely that shouldn't be enough to never go with them then to correct something that is wrong. Imo...

I knew a dude from Iraq. Back in the day he was wealthy in goats (its good to have goats), he had a huge family, and a huge house. During the first Gulf war the Iraqi Govt took all of his goats, Drafted him and all the men in his family. Even though he did not resist, they demolished his house right in front of him. As soon as he saw the first Americans he did the Iraqi salute. Remember that? Both hands up, "I surrender." Of his Family, he was the only one to make it to America. He had his brothers names tatooed in arabic on his forearms. Any time he spoke of Sadam he would spit. I was working with him the day of the 9/11 attacks, first thing he said was that Saddam did it. About 4 months later he dissapeared. He is probably in an internment camp now.

Anyways do you think that between the first gulf war and now the Iraqi Govt has changed the way they treat thier citizens? Highly doubt it. They live in total fear and poverty. His image is everywhere reminding his people that he will fuck them up if they dont worship him like a god.

From what I know, Saddam has a broad wing of supporters in his country as well.

Hey, if I could get the chance, I'd pop a bullet through his skull, I am not one of his supporters. I am just not a supporter of the US government either. :glugglug
