Googles opinion on Popunders and Blog Videos
 

Does adding popunders to a site have any affect on google rankings you think?


Does adding an inline video player streaming free hosted videos on a blog using a jw player have any negative effect on google rankings?

Popunders: I would assume so, if not in algo, at least in user's feedback and bounce rate.

Hotlinked vids: I am not sure to be honest but I am gearing towards hosting the videos on the blogs instead of relying on our own hosted flvs to see if there is a difference. I took a decent beating after last update one of of the sites.. by a couple of our own sites that don't do hotlinked content on it heh. SO trying to see why since the ones that took the spot are never updated while the loser is updated weekly.

When I get popups or popunders I generally close the whole site immediately, most likely a percentage of others do this too, so like iwantchixx said it will affect rankings via the bounce rate :2 cents:
