Going to china.. need a guide + I need general help
so im going to the trade fair in china this year.. I also want to buy furniture and ship..
Im going to guangzhou for the trade fair, but i'd also like to buy/export furniture to another country. Can someone tell me the best place in China to buy furniture? (Im trying to furnish like 6 bedrooms and 3 living rooms) I also need a guide/driver the whole time im there.. I'll pay of course... Can anyone hook this up for me? |
i guess a guy from china or korea is here, something like xiyangu.
he might help you if he is what he says... |
If you are going to the Canton Fair be prepared for a lot of walking and big crowds.
When you pick up your show badges, there are hundreds of translators and guides standing there to be hired near the information booth. The problem is a lot of the manufacturers want you to buy by the container. It is better if you first search on Alibaba to find out EXACTLY what you want and the manufacture. You may be able to bullshit the manufacture that you want to buy some samples or over runs. Mathieu |

hey man...i just got back from china.
your best bet is to find someone who speaks english for you. and pay them to travel with you. Nobody speaks english. However i am guessing on the show floor of the trade show, many will speak english. however outside of that...no one....not at the bank...not at mcdonalds...nothing. I have people you could ask, i know the show you are going to. I almost booked it as well. I will be in china on those dates. I have a translator, but not sure i want to travel so far so you can have one for a day..lol good luck man...if you are serious....get in touch i can point you in a direction that might enable you to find your own translator in time. |
Keep and eye on your Coke.

There's a great place i know of in Beijing where you can order fuck loads of different things. Levi jeans for $20 (retail $150) North face jackets $40 (retail $300) Light laser pens = these fuckers are amazing. You need to ask what sells well - do some research. If you buy in bulk & ship containers back home you won't have any problems selling to anyone. The sky's the limit with this stuff. |

I added you. Is there someone that can give me more tangible information.

You are most likely not going to find a driver that speaks english so you will have to hire a translator separately.
If you are in shanghai I can find people for you. For Guangzhou, you can check out flyertalks china subforum and ask people for guides/drivers that they have used. You can also contact the english departments of local universities and they can hook you up. Are you trying to export furniture for personal use or to resell? You are gonna have to learn how to haggle big time as soon they see a laowai they are going to jack up the price by a huge %, bring a local with you. |

Going to several, dont know yet. I am secure for uploading adult movies or pictures or anything adult related with a VPN? I will have no problems with gov? |
Quote:
you can use your computer to do anything .except against the govt.. .but It is probably best to not let others know your porn sites. And even if you're a foreigner in China . you are privileged to do manything , don't worry. |

An alternative you could try is using taobao.com. You will need a local to help you order/receive it though. Furniture comes flatpack, just ship it back once you get it. I've bought sofas from there for around 1200 RMB, with the same thing around 4000 RMB in stores, so you do save money. Just be sure whatever you do, factor in the cost of shipping it back home and making sure it doesn't end up costing you more. :2 cents: |

Use a vpn for adult work, surfing blocks sites etc. Rent a cheap windows vps to do uploading/downloading content and access that though vpn using remote desktop, team viewer or terminals. Can get one of these for $9 a month or so, makes life easier when using ftp/apps for daily webmastering at fast usa speeds. |
I have a long time friend in guangzhou. He speaks great English and is a great guy in general. Contact me and I will put you in touch with him.

One question. When you say "no problem", that means: 1- No problem, the VPN is safe and can't be break by the gov. 2- No problem, the VPN is not safe, but the gov doesn't do anything about it, so relax. which options? :) |

VPN can across firewall .and as long as you stayed out of politics, the government left you alone and allowe you to make some money, |
