US whites are split 50/50. Thats natural split between republicans and democrats.

Take blacks. Lets say 50% of them are democrat lovers, 50% of them are republicans.
When you see 95% voting democrat and 5% republican that means 45% of them switched sides from republican to democrat because of race. So no, its not 10%, its 45%.

No we need hypothetical situation where black candidate would be republican and would need to see how many would switch from being democrat to republican and add it to that 45% already recorded above. Assume it would be same 45%, we have 90%.

So AT VERY LEAST 45% to the assumed 90% if we assume that 95% of blacks would vote republican if next black candidate were republican.

Black people have been voting democrat for many years before Obama was even on the scene. Look at the past presidential elections.

According to Gallup 88% of black voters voted for John Kerry in 2004. 91% of black voters voted for Obama. Clinton got about 85% of the black vote both times he ran.

Another thing, many blacks go out of polls and on the streets asked why did they vote for Obama says "because he is black" and nobody says anything. But imagine if white folk said they voted for somebody because he was white, lol. If there were a black republican candidate it would be interesting to see what would happen. I think he would get more than 5% of the vote, but I doubt it would be anywhere near 95%. I think there would be plenty of black democrats who would see him as a trader.

I agree it won't be 95%, like I said I retrieve my numbers as I was wrong about 50/50 split. But still there would be decent numbers voting based on skin color. I would bet that black republican would get 50%+ of black votes.

By the way why minorites love democrats so much? Does that mean that democrats goes for the poor/loser vote by promising them welfare, benefits, better standarts and stuff like that? Meaning that country would be better off under republican rule (that won't favor poor/losers that much as democrats)?

There are far more white people who vote republican on Welfare than black people in this country.

The reason for the black vote is civil rights. Blacks slowly started switching over to the democratic party, but then Johnson pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and that was big thing that changed black voters over to democrats. The year after the Civil Rights Act Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act.

In that election Johnson got 95% of the black vote (likely because Goldwater opposed the Civil Rights Act). Since then no republican candidate has ever gotten more than 15% of the black vote.

Another reason is that democrats tend to put into place things like the earned income credit and other tax credits so that very poor people can, in some cases, actually get more money back than they paid in in taxes.

It isn't strictly welfare. One of the biggest reforms to welfare came while Clinton was in the white house.

I read more about it and it seems that democrats are more welfare/freebie/social orientated than republicans, so its strange that there are lots of people on welfare that still vote republican. If I was welfare collecting useless citizen i would definitely vote democrat.

Why do I say republicans are better for the country? Because they do not encourage being poor as much as democrats do.

I have said before that the greatest trick the republican party ever pulled was convincing a huge segment of the population to vote against their own economic best interests. Reagan was able to get many of the bible thumpers in the south to ignore economics and tax rates and focus on social issues. He turned the base of the republican party over to the evangelicals and now they run the party.

i have always had the privelege of knowing awesome people, so never really encountered any racism from blacks except for one part in Toronto. Dufferin/Eglington area. Some stores wont even acknowledge your presence. However you go to the next store and they are super friendly, or at least normal.

You are talking about the US black people. Perhaps most of them really are, but I can't say about black people form EU or, say, from Russia. Those I know (who was born here) are absolutely normal people and they are not racists at all.

But the big thing was that Johnson supported the act while Republican candidate Goldwater didn't. For better or worse during an election year the person on the presidential ticket is the figurehead for your party. If something passes while you are president and you sign it into law you get the credit for it, just like if something fails to pass while you are president you get the blame for it.

I don't know if he would have wanted to be president, but I think there was a time when he could have ran and would have had a very legit shot at winning then the whole Iraq ware fiasco cost him much of his credibility.
