Check this out--took all of five seconds using the Healing Brush tool in PS. I upped the midtones in Levels too, which also took all of five seconds, as there was no detail in the guy's jacket...

DamageX your observations are appreciated and recognized. I don't know if we have personally met or not at any number of shows I attend. The short response I write now is:
Most industry people pay this forum a visit, but very few decision makers actually post here. Those making money, don't waste time being signature whores. NALEM postings come in spurts. We post as we have time, and when we are posting recent photo coverage of relevant shows. We don't live on this board.
Remember trolls are just that ... trolls. They stimulate drama which in turn drives traffic here. Do I like to read the stupid comments here ... of course not. But the post whores/trolls drive industry targeted traffic to NALEM. For that I thank them. I only wish the owners of this forum, would steer GFY towards being more about business, but IMHO they fear a greater loss of traffic will be the outcome.
Those that actually attend the adult conferences/expos know me and my crew. You won't find them making stupid comments here.

No... some photography does reflect reality more than other kinds of photography, but it varies depending on the situation.
Photographers who shoot for newspapers and other kinds of journalistic outlets have strict guidelines as to what kind of retouching/enhancing of their images they can do--which is usually restricted to enhancing brightness & contrast (aka Levels) and some sharpening.
If a photographer is shooting a portrait or a wedding, etc., then it's common practice for him/her to make the subject look as good as possible which means choosing flattering lighting and angles, and doing post-production (usually Photoshop) to make the subject look as good as possible. That ranges from the kind of minor PS work I do on portraits that removes the worst of the subjects flaws--like zits, bad skin, etc., while still making a 50 year old woman look middle aged, to the over-the-top retouching you see on magazine covers such as Cosmopolitan and Vogue.Comment
