a simple idea to stop password selling/trading
A simple solution is to hide the members area.
When members log in to the members area, they are told to contact you with rhe email they signed up with. You then email them the link inside the mebers area. If they sell the password, it does not matter if they log in as they will not know where the url is for the content. Idealy you change this every few days too. A better approach would be a script to automate it. |
Yeh, that won't be annoying.
|
interesting idea, somekind of temporal members area link is emailed to buyer email every time he log in, i like it! Could be annoying, but again...
|
this is a gr8 idea for 100% chargebacks.
|
In your case just give your phone number to your 3 members and have them call you when logging in.

So you just want to make paid porn more annoying and frustrating than free porn?
Seriously? |

but it does not stop people selling the password. also if people hack into the mebers area, they will not see anything. I am sure its possible to do some sort of automatic way. |

its not a big deal to log in, enter your email and have the link sent direct to you. if they have filled in the sign up form, its not much more effort to enter your email address. |
Last I checked you can't do this with CCBill, and probably others, where you must have a link to the paid area on your site and from the JPOSTed results page. You might get away with it for a while, but eventually they'll discover it, and you'll lose sales until you fix it.

simple, just make the person have to change their password after each log in :thumbsup
|
or use a program that suspends their password if it is shared. Oh wait they already have that and it works great for me
|
This guy is a moron. Every fucking day I log in and he reveals more and more about his role in this industry.
I have no clue who he is, but basically I am guessing that he lives in Nobodyland, England... hires the most disgusting whores willing to do whatever for whatever it is he has to offer them... and then in his downtime, comes to GFY and posts news story links and stupid ideas that will make everybody millions or stop file sharing. 10-15 years ago, giving advice to people about multiple login attempts may have been worth something. Today? It's not even close to the most important thing on anybody's dinner plate. That speaks volumes about what it is you do. |

This problem has been solved.
Wy not fix the problem of cunts like you signing up as affiliates, stealing content, rewatermarking it and uploading it to tubes? Oh yeah, cos that would kill the 2 sales a month you get, you pointless thief. |

Password sharing isn’t much of a problem anymore. Sharing is no longer caring. Sharing is for cash these days. Pirates protect their passwords. If you’re getting multiple hits on a user, good chance that account was hacked or that user uses a known username and password combo that he uses on every fucking site out there.
:2 cents: |
Um yeah we will just keep using Proxy Pass which also stops it.
|
interesting idea
|
So is it a good idea?

Each log on the members IP is logged. After 10 different IP is logged account is suspended, the member gets an email prompting to change the pw and letting them know next time account will be suspended. This script is so simple, does everyone let ccbill or epoch manage their PW? Or like me I manage my own. |
i dont think websites are necessarily against thee kind of sites. They can bring a lot of traffic and you can block the access after few people use that pass. Everything after that is just free traffic and some people might even join. Even more - some sites make a special "fake members" page where they give some one or two page content and the user thinks he is in members area but after few pics it redirects him to signup page..

Its over all not a bad idea. Thing is a Large number of people that join sites half the time dont remember the email address they used when they joined.
We use strongbox and it works wonders. |
I think this is an idea that sounds good when you think of it, even better when you type it out and cant believe how much you have to defend it when others reply.
I personally think this is not just a bad idea, but a horrible one. A member does not care about your password security until he is locked out by a password protect script. All he wants to do is login, download and jerk off. Adding an extra step in there for him to take is a speed bump he wont want and as easy as it is for him to find other sources to inspire a woody I want to make sure he gets what he wants every time he enters the members area. It is good 'outside the box' thinking but its practical application would detract from recurs IMHO |
