I don't know what they pay in the US, but I have a buddy in the Canadian armed forces. He did a tour with the UN, got 80% of his pay from the Canadian army and was paid another salary from the UN. Over the last few years he has by far banked the most as he pays no living expense etc.. He is an officer though.

Or Working in an Oil refinery or in the oil fields. Get paid a lot but work like a dog in a dangerous environment.

Indeed. I know a guy out in Red Deer Alberta who works every other month on an oil rig in Cuba, he gets paid $10k per month, every month. For that he works 6 days a week while he's down there, about 60-70 hrs per week, then flies back for a month off. He's been doing that for over 10 years.

Of course, that month-on, month-off schedule coupled with his penchant for spending all he makes has killed every relationship he's ever had with a woman.

Yeah, I have heard a lot about oil platform workers.

Though they can make good money, truck drivers have so many people in their pockets. Trucks cost a fortune and unless you own your own truck usually the boss screws you with poor pay long hours. Even when you own your own truck it's a pain to collect from people, insurance is a fortune (sometimes 10% of what they make annually) gas... etc. Truck driving is a brutal game.

Yup, same story. Know someone out there doing similar work. Left Montreal with little or nothing. In no time he had a house paid in full and a couple of cars and hasn't looked back.
