PHP Coders September 2012

Saw this earlier, while doing some research on Laravel

Thought there might be some cool things that would come in handy for you.

Also, Jeffrey Way with NetTuts just came out with a nice example of using TDD or Test Driven Development with PHPUnit.

A good article by Phil Sturgeon on a PHP renaissance more or less, without depending on specific frameworks, using Composer packages

As an example - would you want to search an image w/ multiple people in it and be able to pick out individual persons from it?

This can be done but it's not packaged in a php library that I'm aware of.

Not sure if you have used Laravel yet but I would highly recommend it.
Routes are a refreshing way to do things, using multiple databases is easy, the built in Auth is simple & flexible, the cache system takes seconds to setup. So many good things about it.
