...more US soldiers killed themselves in 2010 (468) than died in combat (462).

But suicide rates among soldiers are normally higher than civilian rates. Since the Vietnam engagement ended in 1973 there has been more soldiers that served in Vietnam...take their own life than were killed in Vietnam.

I will try to find an article I read a few months back it is about how more US soldiers are killed in training or in non combat than in actual combat itself. It had no mention of suicide, the main reasons for death were traffic accidents, drowning, training accidents ect ect...
