Aside from Pizza... Are there any other foods that...

Kinda taste better the next day, when reheated, than upon original purchase?

SGS 09-22-2012 02:14 AM

Yeah, I think so... (Sometimes)

Last night I ordered one, and while its normally great, it was really oily and greasy... I ate one piece, and put it aside.

After reheating a small slice in the microwave for breakfast, it tasted lovely...

Hence my curiosity :)

blazin 09-22-2012 02:22 AM

Curry...

Harmon 09-22-2012 02:22 AM

I actually like lasagna better the second day. Usually, the first night it's very messy and sloppy. On the second time around, it's usually firmer and easier to eat.

Hey

If you want the full recipe let me know. Its a pasta primavera you can improvise with.

But boil up some pasta, like macaroni or some such. Roast vegetables, peppers on stove, use garlic and olive oil... Put in container and THEN and refrigerate. Its really cheap to do and tastes fantastic especially with beer or cheap wine the next day...oh wait, sorry, with ice tea for you the next day. Tastes the best days 2 and 3.

Expensive to purchase at shishi market but very cheap to make at home. Less than 10 bucks USD for 2-3 days worth of food for 2.

Yea I can understand that. Why was it oily and greasy?

Dunno TBH... I normally get them arrive in perfect condition. But not last night...

Prob TMI, but my local chinese, who normally feed me on a Friday Eve, was unexpectedly shut, so I went for 'Plan B' :)

Basically, it wasn't anywhere near normal standard, but this morning, it was BETTER than usual !

Hence the post :)

Brave Chinese now that shuts on a Friday night?

SGS 09-22-2012 02:50 AM

I personally like chilli after it's been frozen and re-heated.

They are making a fortune! Just witness the brand new BMWs lined up outside, with personalised number plates like 'AH CH00' etc...

They are just having a break and shall be open again on the 26th :)

SGS 09-22-2012 02:56 AM

Must be a bloody good Chinese? Quite a few around here have closed in the last few weeks and our favourite Chinese when we are out in Spain is on the verge of going bust too.

CurrentlySober 09-22-2012 03:08 AM

I LOVE it !

I agree first thing that I thought of.
I always make a huge pan of Lasagna so it last at least two days :D

Chosen 09-22-2012 04:32 AM

No :pimp

Kiopa_Matt 09-22-2012 04:34 AM

Pineapple chicken stir-fry with almonds, if that helps any.

Bit bland the first night, but awesome the second night, after the pineapple and chicken have hung out together over night.

Phoenix 09-22-2012 04:45 AM

spaghetti....fried
tastes awesome the next day

topsiteking 09-22-2012 06:43 AM

Chilli is the only thing I can think of.

ErectMedia 09-22-2012 07:21 AM

Not a fan of leftovers even on Pizza :2 cents:

BlackCrayon 09-22-2012 07:24 AM

my friend used to tell me KFC was better the next day heated up slowly in the oven. i don't eat the stuff so i don't know myself but he always did this.

LeeD 09-22-2012 07:37 AM

I always kind of liked fried chicken right out of the fridge and cold as leftovers.

Sly 09-22-2012 07:40 AM

I think it's a pasta thing. Allows the sauces to soak in more? Leftover spaghetti is quite tasty.

Although I just had this conversation yesterday about pizza, I don't think it's better the second day. Fresh is like a completely different flavor. Don't get me wrong, I love leftover pizza as well. They are just different.

Ovens/toaster ovens should be used for reheating purposes as much as possible. Microwaves suck.

Leftover KFC gravy is good for dipping grilled cheese sandwiches, too.

I have an amazing beef stew recipe, if anyone wants it. I can't wait for it to cool down a bit so I can make some.
