Looking for those who love pets

So, I almost never post this kind of a message but someone I know has just had her pet ( a kitty of 2.5 years ) go through an emergency surgery. She doesn't make much money as an employee of a sports arena that I go to. She had to take a loan of $6K out to pay for the surgery or the cat would have died.

I have been trying to ask as many people as possible to donate to her cause which is mainly to cover the medical bills. I have donated $100 and will donate another $100 next month.

Here's the story of the cat, pictures and the link to donate: http://www.indiegogo.com/PoofSurgery

I know this person myself so I know the money WILL go to where it says it'll go.

Thank you all who can donate, and if not - please share on your Facebook page or through Twitter!

Good luck with this and ignore the people that will post stupid shit in this thread. If I had extra money I would donate even though I hate cats. I love doggies though...

Poor Poof,I am a pet owner and it would be hard but I think I would put down kitty .I hope they reach their goal

Just a note that if you are not able to donate, even if you share this link on your Facebook page or Twitter will still help. Thank you for those who replied to this thread.

I have a deal with my cats if they stay healthy I will return them to their place of origin.

CurrentlySober 09-21-2012 01:19 AM

Good luck.

Sorry, but I wont be making a donation, as I've actually just donated towards 'kitty care' for someone else, whose less than a year old kitty got run over in the street... Very expensive...

TBH, if it were my cat, (as much as I love cats) I would probably have had it put to sleep, but they have young children who have totally bonded with the cat, so I suppose thats fair enough.

Thank you for those who donated, and those who shared the link on Facebook.

Say hi to poof for us. We blasted on twitter and facebook. I hope they raise their goal. Our black cat had cancer a year or so ago. Not cheap but he has been very very good to me. And so far recovered knock on cat nip.

As a cat owner, I'm really sorry to hear this.

I'm not into position to donate, but I'm also wondering why would the treatment be so expensive? I just don't understand.
Can't doctors do something to help the kitten without taking blood money?

From what I gather the cat just could not go to the bathroom and had his passage cleared as a procedure. Which is expensive. The only permananet solution was the sex change operation ( make him a girl ). That's what they did.

a teaspoon of olive oil does wonders for cat backups.

John-ACWM 09-23-2012 12:51 AM

All the best with that!

They've tried it all, from what I understand. I guess it calcified and basically stopped letting the cat go to the bathroom. So, they had to go for like $300 procedure every time. Thus they ended up having the surgery. :-(
