Any time I've gotten a picture taken for government ID I was told not to smile. Don't see this as being new.

It's been the exact opposite for me in the past here in California, they always tell me to smile. I'm smiling in my current license photo.

Seriously? Every one I've taken was from California, they all said don't smile.

Your tax dollars, used by your government, for another technology to further track your every move. This facial recognition system is/will be used by cameras everywhere soon, so I was relating this new law to another little piece of your freedom getting chipped away, slowly and continuously.

More loss of liberty and freedom, under the guise of protecting your liberty and freedom. Eventually there will be no more privacy or freedom left, and it was all paid for with your tax dollars, to protect your freedom... but at least the money wasn't wasted on healthcare or education.

Obviously when you take a photo for identification purposes, you should be allowed to distort your appearance as much as possible. That's just common sense:

If they could get away with it they would take your fingerprints and DNA sample also. But that's too much at once. People would cry bloody murder. So instead they ease us into this stuff.

Crime prevention cameras. Facial recognition systems. DMV photos without smiling or glasses. Three seemingly different things that come together and give them the tracking they desire.

more basic psychological tactics to ingrain people to respond to authority with out question ... kinda like when you let them molest your wife and kids at the airport in front of you.
