ICM Registry secures $650,000 order for Premium .XXX Domains

ICM Registry, the registry operator for the .XXX top-level domain (TLD) for online adult entertainment, today announced IRIS SARL, based in Luxembourg and backed by a number of investors and entrepreneurs, has secured over 40 .XXX Premium names and has plans to make a major impact in the adult entertainment space.

The .XXX names include hentai.xxx, sluts.xxx, cougars.xxx and many more popular niche sectors of the adult market. The group is investing significant resources to produce unique and original content coupled with a strategic approach to become a leading adult brand.

?We have followed .XXX for several years, and it is an obvious choice for our investment group. We were able to acquire some powerful keyword domains, and we are totally in step with the .XXX messaging and position of responsibility. We will continue that highly professional theme when it comes to customer support and billing,? said IRIS? managing partner. ?Internet users across the globe will rapidly become aware of the new letters to the ?right of the dot? given the release of hundreds, if not thousands of TLDs, over the coming years. .XXX clearly identifies the content as adult.?

Representatives from the new company will be looking for partnerships and content deals at the upcoming adult trade shows in Europe, including The European Summit in Prague.

ICM Registry Vice President, Steve Winyard added:

?IRIS has been a pleasure to work with, and we will support their efforts with the launch of a dedicated .XXX search engine at the end of September 2012. We are even more thrilled that the availability of premium .XXX names has allowed a new player, with significant resources and skill sets, to enter the adult space, and we look forward to the development of these sites over the next few months.?

But then the domains would have cost them $650,000 apiece. Or more. XXX is still going to lose badly. I honestly don't remember ever seeing a .xxx domain turn up for anything I've ever searched for.

This is full of bullshit

It only exists for little over a year so that doesn't make any sense.

There is another huge company with that kind of cash, located in Luxembourg, backed by a number of secret investors... name is slipping my mind at the moment. Probably just a coincidence anyway.

I have completly forgotten about .xxx domains.

I have not seen any in google.

I wonder if they bought the domains hoping to sell them for a profit.

I wonder if some twit has sugested that they will be in demand.

It has been around for a very long time, it just did not go live until last year. :2 cents:

Manfail.

edgeprod 09-19-2012 06:13 PM

This is hilarious and sad all at the same time. Sucks for the investors.

Redrob 09-19-2012 06:15 PM

Not long to renewal dates. Watch the ship go down in flames since the gTLDs will make registering with .XXX pointless for protecting your trademark.

looky_lou 09-19-2012 09:37 PM

I guess they missed the Google blog announcement about devaluing .xxx domains in the search results. :(

Right, no names?

It was passed last year but existed in concept since 2000. Doesn't mean it's any good, but they weren't telling a complete lie.

Supz 09-19-2012 11:09 PM

search engine? did they get google.xxx?
