Some religions are hard to believe but Im truly curious as to how anyone could be convinced that mormonism is the true way.

Most people are the religion they are because that's how they were raised.

Some people think that God has spoken to them...and Mormons will tell you to ask God but they are not the only religion that will tell you to ask God.

I once knew a man that was a paratrooper that jumped into France the night before D-Day...during World War Two. To shorten the story he was shot fifteen times by a German Machine Gunner...mostly head and upper body shots. He lost consciousness and when he awoke...several weeks later...he was in a hospital in England. He eventually learned that it was German soldiers that turned him over to Americans so that he could be medically treated. For the next few years he was treated for his injuries and his face was rebuilt by plastic surgeons and he fully recovered from his wounds to live a fruitful and productive life. During those recovery years he felt that someone or something had been looking out for him so he began studying various religions and he came across Mormonism and for whatever his reasons...he claimed that God spoke to him...he became a devout Mormon and remained a devout Mormon until the day he died. At the time of his death he was quiet well off and owned and operated a mine in Arizona.

There are many religious people that will tell you that they have had a personal experience with God and that is why they are religious.

BlackCrayon 09-19-2012 04:35 AM

i think some are attracted to it because the story is "different". the idea that christ came to america makes them feel closer to the story. for some its Joesph Smith's experience of questioning all religions and praying to god asking which is true, which might reflect their own search for what is true.

a lot of people probably also like the idea that there is no "hell" in the mormon church, that there is only three levels of heaven and even the lowest level is supposed to be way better than earth(lol). and the idea that famlies can be 'sealed' together forever is probably appealing to some too. the fact that they don't believe in 'until death to do you part', they believe couples and families can be together eternally.

the mormon church doesn't push a lot of the more abstract views, they try to downplay a lot of bad history the mormon church has.

Because it makes everything easier. Then they can say it's God's will in any situation and have peace with it. Also because they want to believe in things like heaven.
