Could you just put down your phone? Forever?

Turn off your cell phone. Cancel your service.

Could any of you do it? Or are we all too attached to them now?

mce 09-18-2012 12:45 PM

yes. I haven't owned a mobile phone in 7 years. My wife has three though :)

Presnus 09-18-2012 12:47 PM

I can't :) Need to be contacted when there are issues with my sites :D

Tom_PM 09-18-2012 12:51 PM

I have yet to purchase a cellular telephone or mobile device.

So... yes easily?

Or.. NA since I've not become attached to one yet.

You've never owned a mobile telephone?

L-Pink 09-18-2012 12:54 PM

Sure no problem. I'm fact I just might. I don't like being accountable.

Nope. I've sold them before, and used them to demonstrate to customers when Sprint only had 1 phone and terrible coverage. Thats it though.

shake 09-18-2012 01:44 PM

Sure, get an iPad with 3g or better. I never talk on the phone anyway :thumbsup

RebelR 09-18-2012 02:01 PM

wished I didn't need one.. I view them as a necessary evil.

Jim_Gunn 09-18-2012 02:05 PM

Why would anyone want to put down one of the greatest conveniences ever created in modern society? Like many people, I don't even have a landline phone anymore. I rely on my smart phone for all my business and personal calls, texting, GPS and many other uses.

dallasnovelty 09-18-2012 02:07 PM

I bet you watched the new NBC show "Revolution" where they lost all technology at one time.

Rochard 09-18-2012 02:20 PM

My wife's cell phone died on vacation and while were trying to dry it out she was without a phone. It was a damn pain in the ass. Couldn't text her for simple things, no idea when she would be home.

Imagine... That's how we used to live. We would leave the house with no phone.

I never watched that show.

Hardly use it. It's nice when I need to order a pizza or something, and it is convenient. However, I would prefer to keep it even though I don't use it much.

MaDalton 09-18-2012 04:05 PM

didnt switch on my phone last weekend at all. actually i make like 3-5 real calls a month - and maybe 3-5 texts a day.

but i like smartphones for many other reasons

dennisthemenace 09-18-2012 07:05 PM

absolutely. phone is my least favorite form of communication and also least favorite electronic thing.

AllAboutCams 09-18-2012 07:14 PM

I'm an inch away from cancelling my land line and cable. I kinda need my cell service, though. I don't even answer my land-line phone anymore - I only get surveys and subscription offers. Weed-Man, free vacations... Hey! You Just Won a Car!!! Windows and doors are big. I only pay for it because I have a DSL connection and need it. All my land-line does is add $50 (plus tax) to my internet bill each month.

But maybe I don't need it. I cannot remember the last time anyone I know called me on my home phone.

Can't just keep the dryloop? Here I can get dryloop for 7$ a month and put my DSL service on it...

v4 media 09-18-2012 11:55 PM

Got one but never use it, mainly its for internet if my main connection craps out.
1/2 way up a mountain, so sometimes I lose my adsl.

I could go without quite easy though.

Sounds like an excuse so you couldn't ring her.. you probably drive her mad asking her q's all the time. :1orglaugh

Yes. I dont have a smart phone - Just an old fashioned one that makes calls.

If I go on a long car journey, or away for a few days, I take it so I can be contacted or call out in an emergency, but at all other times its switched off and in a drawer.

TBH I dont even know my own number !

Having never really had a mobile / cell I wouldn't miss it at all.

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-19-2012 05:01 AM

Self exclusion. Shit makes my head hurt.

martinsc 09-19-2012 05:05 AM

i don't think I can.... :Oh crap :Oh crap

seeme 09-19-2012 05:06 AM

I have had many phones but prefer skype/IM/email. Currently my phone only does calls, its basic. I only have it for emergencies!

Chosen 09-19-2012 05:28 AM

No, why?
However I barely make couple of calls each day, and text maybe once in a few months.

myjah 09-19-2012 05:34 AM

Never...

exactly.. would be like going back to out houses for nostalgic reasons..

if you find you are on the phone too often turn it off for a while. The problem isn't the phone it's the owner..

seeandsee 09-19-2012 06:03 AM

Seeing as I've never owned one nor had the need to, I lack the addiction to it, so I'm going to say yes.

No crackberry addiction here.
