opinions on CorelDRAW 10

What are your opinions on CorelDRAW? I think version 10 is the lastest. Should I get it or stick with Adobe Photoshop for web design and 'non-web' general graphics design?

Hmm I wouldn't switch from Photoshop to Corel, maybe the other way around.

Having used Fractal Painter in preference to Photoshop for years, I was dissapointed to see Corel buy the application and their new major release is essentially same as 3 years ago Painter 5.

:2 cents:

For web design? Definitely not.

I work with Photoshop, sometimes exporting vectors from Corel to it. But the Adobe family is integrated really well, so it is probably because of my laziness that I still use Corel :thumbsup

And, 5 CDs (version 11)? Too much.

Corel is losing its touch with Draw then. I remember back in '93-'94 when Draw was the big thing. To be honest, I haven't touched it since!

I thought version 3 was pretty cool. Stop upgrading at 6. I am lazy: design work in photoshop; and compression and batch work in Fireworks; easy illustration in Flash more complex work in AI or Freehand.

Too bad that Corel turned into a graphic program for non-professionals, their text wrap was the best.

Adobe Illustrator 10 integrates with Photoshop nicely. I use that, but also occasionaly Corel, InDesign, and Pagemaker for projects.
Quark is a good program also, but InDesign2 pretty jumped ahead of it now.

I thought Corel died years ago.

I finished a contract up with Corel in September, as I helped them launch a massive north american tour.

It was hillarious, the infighting on the tour blew it up.

But, Corel Painter, is more than what is was 3 years ago, trust me. It is an extremely powerful tool, that is catching on again, and being used to do a lot of the story boards and paintings for the movies now (Harry Potter and Spiderman are a few.)

CorelDraw 10 is a powerful tool, and believe it or not, it actually has some features that PS, FW, FH, and AI don't.

They will be around, they are starting to get back in the education market, and that is where you get the footholds in the industry.

Anyways, I have Draw10, Painter, KnockoOut 2, PS7, FW, DW, and I use them all in a collaborative environment, and it is a nice powerful mix.
