looking for a cheap, very simple mpeg editor

i'm looking for a replacement mpeg editor. I just want a VERY basic one that will simply clip the long mpegs I just received. that's it. If I can save a .jpg from a still of the mpeg, even better. Any body know of any??? Or where to go to get it?? thanks in advance...
