I have a Dell flipscreen netbook. It's a netbook that can flip around into a thick tablet. I love it. I use it when I travel and when I'm home on the couch. Perfect.

I have had 2 HP laptops both crapped out, after sales service is shit, wont catch me using anything other than an overpriced mac these days!

Acer & Asus laptops are ok.

Do macs survive being dropped or thrown violently?
I'm in the same boat with HP, 2x x 0, thinking tough book next.

They don't last longer then a year for me. The last one, I actually got insurance on it. The insurance found it cheaper to send me my money then to fix the laptop, or provide me with a refurbish with similar options.

There's a huge difference in quality between consumer and business laptops.

Consumer - Shit you buy at Best Buy that's made of really cheap plastic

Business - Mostly metal, better build quality, video cards.

-----------

The only two brands I recommend are:

HP Elitebook (buy an i7 or i5 slightly used, it's way less -- check craigslist)

Lenovo ThinkPad - Again a great platform, I personally prefer the Elitebook.

I just heard someone bitching about this the other day... saying how "business stuff" is just more expensive because its for a business than personal use :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

In most cases, with the exception of Internet, phone and cell companies, business class products are made to be used a lot more and a lot harder.
