Divx 3? 4? or 5?
 

I'm working on a big project encoding movies in Divx, anyone know what deluxepass and adultboucner use to encode there ones? I heard divx5 is good but its a bit buggy is that right?

is it best to go divx3 4 or 5? any one with experience know?

None of the above.

DivX is a good codec, but it doesn't auto download, surfer has to download and install something.

Do yourself a favor and use WMV8 or 9 - sure it's MS, but the surfer has no hassles seeing it without downloading anything, and WMV8 and 9 are arguably better than DivX 5.

agree w/ Backov... Divx is a dying, unnecessary breed these days, .Wmv is much more friendly to 90% of the surfers out there... who wants paysite sample media in a format that won't pop right up w/ the goods for near all surfers..?

as much as everyone hates micro$oft, their giving away a format/codec that the scamming leeches over at projectmayo (divx.com) want us to pay a licensing fee annually to use, and theirs requires special software and drivers to use... whatever. fuckers, they deserve to go out of business, stealing a technology from pirates and trying to go IPO. fuckers.

no Divx, and if you *really* need Divx for paysite media, stick w/ the pure, unadulterated, un-bloated form... Divx 3.11alpha. no licensing, surfers still have to install secondary software to playback, and no money into the hands of greedy corporate drones in San Diego. fuckers..!

Ok .Wmv sounds good, whats it like for compression? And didn't I hear someone say that Studios wanted Adultboucner to use .Wmv and they said they had to but there customers prefured mpeg or something??

I'm looking at 100-200 meg movies. I heard divx was a bit buggy on some systems.

anyone used .Wmv for really big files and had any good response? what systems are setup to run .Wmv files already? win98?

You need to use the divix 3.1. If you use any other type of divx the company will want something like 2K just for using their product. I personally hate .wmv files and do not allow them on my movie post. The buffer or waiting time just pisses me off.

If a surfer likes to download movies from the big MPG's he is going to know how to download codecs and play any type of movie file. I like to make galleries with mpegs movies in them.

WMV ALL THE WAY.

I use vegas video 3.0, i like it more than anything i've used int he past, and it allows for the best compresion of any program i've used.

I hear using less bandwidth is good =)
