WTF is going on here?!?!?!?

OK ....

You see a shirt you want to buy for $97, but you have no money.

So you go to your mother and borrow $50, and you go to your father and borrow $50.

Once you've purchased the shirt, you have $3 change, so you decide to give $1 back to your mother, $1 back to your father, and you keep $1.

So now you owe each of your parents $49 (49 x 2 = 98), plus the one dollar in your pocket ... equals $99.00

WHERE THE FUCK DID THE OTHER DOLLAR GO?!?!? :Oh crap

The parents share should have been $48.50 each ($97 divided by two), so that leaves a dollar for each parent, plus one for the math/logic scholar... :upsidedow

But you did not borrow $48.50 off them Sherlock ... you borrowed $50 each!

I don't know about how you do it, but in my neck of the woods, you pay back the FULL amount that you borrow ...

By your logic, if I want to buy a Bimmer for $60K, but I borrow $80K from the bank, I only have to pay back the $60K purchase price?!? Sign me up!! :thumbsup:1orglaugh

My theory is ... if you can find all the left socks that your washing machine has eaten over the years, you will find that dollar bill there too!!! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

$48.50 X 2 = $97 (price of shirt)

You take a full $50 from each parent = $100

$48.50 X 2 = $97

You give each parent back $1.00

$97 + $1 + $1 = $99.00

You keep $1.00

and here are two dollars lost: price is 86, you borrow 30 from three friends, you buy, 4 usd left in the pocket, you give back 3x1 dollar, keep one. then you decide to give back all, you give back 29x3 = 87 and one your dollar is 88, where are the two dollars? :) :upsidedow

Three men rent a hotel room. Each pays $10 for a total of $30 spent on the room. The next day the hotel owner tells the three men that they over paid for the room as it only costs $25. The three men tell the owner to give them each a dollar back and he can keep two dollars.

If you do the math, each man paid $9 a piece for the room for a total of $27. The owner kept $2 which brings the total to $29.

The question is where did the other dollar go?
This problem is older than dirt!
