... being moved somewhere?

Just got off the phone with my mom for the Valentine's Day call, and she told me a relative of mine had been shipped out a couple weeks back. And she didnt know where.

Just curious who all here has military in the family and were they being moved?

Officially and legally the military members can not tell you this if they were told that information was sensitive or classified.

My mom drove me nuts during my many deployments in my past life....esp during Desert Storm I....

Just let it go as 'somewhere over there'....if you guess I'm sure it'll be close enough...

army dude to iraq this week, marine dude to kuwait last week. they warned of going somewhere and shipout was sudden.

It's going to happen soon. Germany and France will fall off of NATO after this. They better get their "nazi" loving asses in gear.

I leave for the Army on Monday afternoon... Four months of training.

A little off topic (or a lot).

This was on the local news (Australia, FYI). The australian armed forces sent a carrier to the gulf, and 3 troops refused vacinations for anthrax. They got sent home, and will not be punished in any way. What a fucking joke.

I don't think many people <i>like</i> the idea of going to war, but these people have been trained, fed, and have received tax free pay for years. When it finally comes time to pay their dues, to do what they are obligated to do, they suddenly have no spine.

These pricks should be dishonourbly discharged, and all pensions or whatever other benefits they had coming their way, revoked.

Being former military myself, most of my "family" are good friends who gave a damn about me when my own blood were too greedy and pathetic to care about themselves much less anyone else.

That said: Hubby has not left, he does not have to go. Already done his four years, and did not have to do four more as inactive reserve.

Best friend has been there somewhere (read: can't disclose) since December. Soul-mate (fuckin mind-twin, scarey stuff) is somewhere over there (read: can't disclose) and will be until further notice.

Cousin is there too. Further notice.

My husband's friend is underway until not sure when. His uncle is on call.

We're scared. I'm fucking terrified. I'm going home as soon as I can once my friends have come home; they mean that much to me. I want to be able to see for myself that they are all right. If they should give thier lives for this, then I want to go and thank them, kiss them goodbye, and be there for thier families.
