Theme park advice Orlando
So, I'm being flown out to Orlando in October for a magic conference I'm marketing. never been.
I can arrange it so I get a day extra there. I like Disney, but love coasters. What theme park should I visit? |
Universal

islands of adventure for sure and also stay at 1 of the 3 hotels and your room key is a fast pass

Universal is the right play here. Get the dual park pass, as both sides have great rides.

I agree with those saying Universal. The two parks are actually small enough that you could hit them both in a day if you wanted to just focus on the big rides.
|
Universal and Islands of Adventure if you are into roller coasters. Its a lot better than Disney.
I think you should check out Epcot as well though. It's a great place for adults |

Orlando has lots of strip clubs and other fun places...the humidity sure sucks there though. :costumed15 ADG |

Buy a Day-Hopper pass for BOTH PARKS. It is worth it. It is a world-class theme park which is much more fun than Disney in my opinion. Islands of Adventure is made for "big kids" while Disney is made for toddlers. Rides you must not miss while at Universal : - Hulk (One of the sickest coasters ever) - Spiderman (now updated!) - The Simpsons (replaced Back to the Future : The Ride. Excellent.) - Ripsaw Falls (get wet!) - Dragon Challenge (Formerly Dueling Dragons) Inverted Coaster - Harry Potter (WOW!!!) (Inverted 3D Super IMAX mind bending coaster thing) - Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket (Scary as hell coaster) - Revenge of the Mummy (Scary coaster) - Doctor Doom Fear Fall. Short Ride so take the single-rider line if you can) A good place to eat there for fast food is a 50's style burger & shake place. I forget the name but it has all these 50's era cars parked in front. Fast food as I said, but yummy. Also, Universal is doing a "Halloween Nights" thing again which I have never been to but heard very good things about. It includes designs and features from Rob Zombie. Have fun! |
Hey you guys are forgetting the free stuff :D Universal's CITYWALK and O'TOWN ;) there's rides and some late night clubs that will make you laff ;) http://myoldtownusa.com/
but what do I know, I just make porn |
Before Islands of Adventure opened, my best friend was a Universal publicist and we got lots of perks and freebies.
We got to be part of a photo shoot for the Hulk coaster before the park even opened. We had to ride the coaster almost 30 times in a row before they got the shots and film footage they were after. There's a spot on one of the first twists after blast off and blacks me out for a second or two each time. That's one of my favorite coasters ever. And Orlando is one of my most favorite cities ever. |
Sucks you just have one day. I'd say Universal. Everything people have mentioned is so awesome. I enjoyed Disneyland when I was there too as I really like Disneyland. I live in California and go all the time to Disneyland and downtown Disney. Good times.
Make it back some day and do Disneyland and the whole Epcot thing. |
Thanks guys. Exactly the info I was after. You rock..

Depending on the day of the week, you might have to FastPass Harry Potter. If it's one you really want to see, hit that park early. I've seen it where they hit capacity and don't let anyone into that section of the park. #sadness.
But October should be OUTSTANDING weather for you to be in FL. And yah, they'll be setting up for Halloween Horror Nights. If you're into being scared (and giant, drunk crowds), you should check that out, too :) ~Emily |
HULK!
Dueling Dragons! |
