when the union war was going on in Madison, the money for all the buses for the tea party was paid by these guys

They also endow professorships at universities and them stock them with whores willing to deny global warming.

Why?

Because they are in the pollution business. Koch Industries is a huge player in the fossil fuel business with interests in coal, oil and natural gas. If there are tighter environmental regulations, they'd have to *gasp* spend some money cleaning up their mess. Apparently their combined $50 Billion net worth isn't enough for them.

These bastards don't care about the country one bit. They just want to continue raping the planet with as little oversight and cost (tax, cleanup etc) as possible.

As always, follow the money.

They also donate to PBS shows a lot which is ironic because their favored party wants to defund PBS entirely. Claiming, as usual, that it's a waste of taxpayer money.

They're also HUGE bankrollers of the (allegedly grass roots) Tea Party. Not because of some ideological belief, but simply because they want to pay less tax and have virtually no oversight of their activities. Sure, their super pac Americans for Prosperity wraps it all up in patriotic rah rah, but have no doubt about their real motivation.

As always, follow the money.

The thing is at least one of them is fiscally conservative, socially liberal. David (I think) is a big patron of the arts, believes in gay marriage and generally thinks people should just be themselves.

Granted, they are destructive with where they plow their money but if the Republican party would take a cue from them and go more left on social issues it'd probably get a lot more support.

Right now they put their money over their social beliefs so the extreme right gets their money to try and destroy America.

FYI Dinesh D'Sousa is a professional liar for the far right. Every time i've seen him in an interview where his BS is corrected by documented fact, he either changes the subject or just says "no no no" until the interviewer moves on.

And now he's psychoanalyzing a guy he's never met, telling the world that obama has "deep-seated Charles Bronson vigilante rage". No joke, those are his words.

Sure they don't care about gay marriage. It doesn't affect their bottom line (no pun intended ;))

So they buy politicians, and they come cheap. Of all their investments, politicians give them their best ROI.

They are poster children for why Citizens United desperately needs to be overturned.

They are originally from Kansas. One lives in NYC, not sure where the other brother is. The reason you think Wisconsin is they have been buying up every politician in WI, MI, KS and every other state they can. While they claim to be against unions, welfare and any other government handouts, they rake in $100+ millions a year from tax deductions or actual cash payments. This doesn't include all the pollution their factories spit out while trying to destroy the EPA. These two missed their calling by not being around in 1930's Germany to aid National Socialism.

i think i was thinking wisconsin cause i was reading about the arena that the koch brothers built and 'paid for' but ends up being mostly tax payers footing the bill while they reap the profits

Another thing about these 2 faces of evil. They are prime forces behind the illegal Voter ID (aka voter suppression) laws we've seen crop up over the last year.

Basically, the goal is to disenfranchise up to 22 million voters, the vast majority of whom (not coincidentally) tend to vote democratic and also happen to be black. Fortunately, they're all going to be overturned as they violate parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

In fact Texas' new Voter ID law has already been struck down. Why? Because they have such a horrible record for racism that they're required to submit any changes to their voting rules to the DOJ for immediate review :1orglaugh

here's the tragic thing. while i expect that sort of thing from toothless hillbilly knuckle-draggers, i see it in my own family. 2 close family members, who are bright, well-educated and very numbers-oriented in their professional lives, have totally surrendered their critical thought to the right wing media. even when presented with documented facts that contradict their 'thoughts', they can't accept it.

gotta give credit where it's due...the right wing media is brilliant at what they do. their products are fear and anger and they sell them like masters. Machiavellian brilliance.
