South African police shot and killed 34 miners when they held a protest. Now their colleges who also protested with them will be charged with the miners murders whom the police shoot dead.

"Workers arrested at South Africa's Marikana mine will be charged later with the murder of 34 colleagues shot by police, an official has said.

A prosecuting authority spokesman told the BBC that 270 workers would be tried under the "common purpose" doctrine."

"Under South African law all of the demonstrators can be tried for "common purpose", where armed suspects provoke police reaction by attacking officers, resulting in death."


And to think i lived under their laws for 17 years ..pfft

Those protesters were armed with machetes, knives and guns and had already murdered security guards.

Yes I know that and the ones who did hack the security gaurds and those two police men to death should be charged, but they are charging all the protesters with the murder of the strikers who the police shot dead

You are talk about a large group of people who were armed, committed murder, and other crimes. The ones who committed murder should be charged with murder, but anyone else who took part in the protests as guilty of multiple crimes.

Here in the US if you and your buddy rob a gas station at gun point and your buddy shoots someone dead, guess what - you will be charged with murder (or something related). You took part in a crime using a firearm in which someone was killed.

if you drive a guy down to rob a liqueur store, sitting in the car during the robbery, and the clerck gets killed you will also be charged with murder. if the union rabble rousers hadn't fucked with the workers until the rioted they would still be alive... :2 cents:

If you went to go watch street racing one night, and someone crashed and killed someone. Who ever gets caught can get charge. So we have the almost the same law here.

The difference is that they are charges for the murder of the people that the police killed.
