Advice for cooling home office
I have a home office in my apartment in Los Angeles. It's probably about 150-200 sq ft. I have a good number of computers in there (6) plus HDTV, PS3, etc. All stuff giving off heat.
I have a wall air conditioning unit in the living room that doesn't do much to help cool my office, it's on the other side of the apartment and it stays easily 10+ degrees hotter in my office than the rest of the apartment. So I need some advice on how to cool this room down. I've looked at various small air conditioning units that work to evaporate water to cool down a room. The thing that worries me is I've read about issues with those things creating humidity and I don't want condensation or anything like that around my computers. I currently have fans trying to move the cool air from the living room area but it's not that effective. Any tips? |
My mom got a free-standing AC until, like the ones you see in Data Centers, but much smaller of course. The only down side is that you need to play the hot air discharge out a window, or possibly a hole in the wall.
Besides that one set back, it seems to work well. |
You need one of these to move the air around

Portable A/C, more expensive than a window unit but quieter.

If you have a window a portable AC is the way to go. I have one for my bedroom and it rocks. I think I spent about $300 on it and it keeps the bedroom nice and cool.

I have a large window mounted aircon 24/7 in my office. Still gets hot with all the machines though. A fan to blow air around the back of machines helps too.

Dyson office fan is what I would look into...

Check out Mitsubishi's website, they make some interesting units.
