Domain renewal fee at GoDaddy - $19.99/yr?

jesus christ

rowan 08-29-2012 08:18 AM

Have to make up the loss from all those coupons somehow! :D

lucas131 08-29-2012 08:20 AM

SPN3 or cjc795dom dont work?

candyflip 08-29-2012 08:22 AM

Don't they at least give you two years at that price? I know they like to default to 2 years for most other registrations.

seeandsee 08-29-2012 08:24 AM

They have active renew coupons always

AllAboutCams 08-29-2012 08:25 AM

i get $15.17 for 1 year
i used cjc795dom and it came down to $8.67

L-Pink 08-29-2012 08:25 AM

Someone has to pay for the race cars Danica wrecks every weekend.

.

LeRoy 08-29-2012 08:26 AM

Damn shits getting real!

Is this .com?

Chosen 08-29-2012 08:28 AM

Fuck GoDaddy :action-sm

AllAboutCams 08-29-2012 08:31 AM

and whats with the 60 lock on domains that sucks balls i asked for them to remove it and i have to send id documents so they dont care that i have spent $$$$ there before i need to show id

BlackCrayon 08-29-2012 08:35 AM

for a .com? godaddy is the cheapest around but only if you use the coupon codes or buy into the domain discount club.

Tom_PM 08-29-2012 08:37 AM

I happily pay around 17 bucks a year with a good registrar. It can be a tragically weak point in online business, so a good registrar is worth the money.

BIGTYMER 08-29-2012 08:37 AM

You did it wrong.

neither of those codes did anything to the price

however they did offer me 2 years for 39.99

who has a valid discount code for domain renewals?

if its .com use bacon3. however, it doesn't really sound like a .com. the max price godaddy gives for .com's is 15.99 or something.

RandyD 08-29-2012 09:10 AM

Get a working code, fucks sake no-one pays $20 for a renewal

V_RocKs 08-29-2012 09:11 AM

resellerclub.com

Charge yourself less and no bullshit codes.

bluebook18 08-29-2012 09:12 AM

damn, that's why i don't use them :(

candyflip 08-29-2012 09:12 AM

Is this a domain you got from them for .99?

They have to make that up somehow. :1orglaugh

probably not if you want free privacy but otherwise, yes. i can get new .com's from godaddy for 6 bucks a pop right now but typically the price is between 7.49-7.99 whereas internet.bs is 9.04. i can get renewals from godaddy for 8.67. i don't know what internet.bs's renewal prices are but even if they are 9.04, its still cheaper.

BlackCrayon 08-29-2012 09:14 AM

if its not a .com, try this one, its 33% off gdx624n

If I understand correctly, you pay $99 per year, but this gives you a $99 credit to spend on domains?

It seems to be part of publicdomainregistry, which doesn't have the best rep in TGP/MGP circles (lots of cheaters)

Any more info on your experience with them?

edit: and do they offer WHOIS privacy?

kazbalah 08-29-2012 10:00 AM

Try buying a domain through yahoo - The second year mine got transfered to Melbourne IT - An Australian company.

80 bucks to fucking renew it!

ShoeBox 08-29-2012 10:27 AM

I have a few domains left at godaddy and renewal is never more than 9 bucks

Anyway,name.com

I think if I had hundreds of domains, I'd be on a first name phone call basis with a personal rep who would offer me whatever deal they had or I'd go elsewhere! Seriously if you are gonna renew 100 domains and aren't getting a undisclosed discount then I'd try harder.

That's not me though, I just have a few.

robwod 08-29-2012 11:28 AM

GoDaddy assigns personal VIP reps to those with a portfolio of domains. I am not sure what the threshold is to be assigned a rep (I only have a couple of hundred sites/domains), but my rep has even searched for domains for me, based on criteria I supplied, while I was on the phone with him and working on something else. And I cannot count how many times he has assisted with other things like account changes and transfers in and out of other registrars that had issues.

Mutt, was it $19.99 for one year or 2 years and was it in USD currency? I have never seen a GoDaddy renewal fee that high. Interesting.

FreeHugeMovies 08-29-2012 11:41 AM

LOL @ Go Daddy

PornoMonster 08-29-2012 11:59 AM

Yep when I first look at domains to buy, I think they were like $60, then I did get a bunch at $30 for years, Ouch. I sure miss the under $5 days.... If you have enough domains at godaddy you can get them for less than $9

bean-aid 08-29-2012 12:00 PM

Maybe this can just be the godaddy coupon thread.

Is this a .us? I've seen 19.99 renewals for a .us but not a .com.

Did you get a working coupon? If not please let me know the extension and I'll grab you a coupon :thumbsup

It used to be pretty low but now it's either 300 or 500 domains. I used to have an account rep at Godaddy but I only have 2 domains left there now :winkwink:

anexsia 08-29-2012 03:04 PM

I just finished transfering all the $0.99 domains I registered with them to Namecheap...think I paid $9.79 or something for Namecheap. I don't ever keep my domains at Godaddy.

yup, i had a domain with those pricks years ago.

The trick with them is to let thme know you have hundreds of domains and they will then offer you $10 a year if you promise to think about transferring your domains to them. Then after you have renewed, transfer the domain away from these assholes.

grzepa 08-29-2012 04:17 PM

$20 is hilarious

fitzmulti 08-29-2012 04:34 PM

I have NEVER seen a renewal from them for $19.99 on a .com , not once.

he never mentioned the extension. My guess is a .us or .me. Godaddy pricing for .us sucks hard, they're like 8 bucks elsewhere.

Mutt 08-29-2012 04:50 PM

yep, i forgot the domain i was renewing was a .US domain - so that solves the mystery of the $19.99 renewal fee.

That makes more sense but they are up to about $14.99 retail for .coms anyway.

livexxx 08-29-2012 07:36 PM

get on live support, ask for a transfer code, they reduce most things by 50% then remember after to transfer to a cheaper domain registrar before renewal hits again. IMHO you should be looking at 5-10yr registrations anyway or get the guy in your company to get on the ball.

From yesterday, and pretty much every time I renew:

.COM Bulk Domain Name Renewal (6-20) (recurring) $8.67
