The American Taliban

I've seen more real news on this show. I find it amazing that the discourse in this country has fallen to the level of do you like Brittney Spears new hairdoo.:2 cents:
Very sad that the Republicans want to defund NPR and PBS which have the last real, in-depth reporting of social/political news stories and examine the social consequences of the same. Very sad, indeed.:Oh crap |
The "news" and people's expectations of the quality of information from their chosen "news" sources has now fallen to the level where a fictional show based a a very particular agenda is now quoted as if it's relevent or factual.
*sigh* . |
Awesome clip indeed..

If you hate the Tea Party this scene is poignant, but even more importantly, if you are a Republican, this clip is quite powerful and eye-opening. How far has the Republican party truly strayed? This clip kicks ass, and if it makes you angry, then maybe you need to think about why that is, and who you are really angry at. |

P.S. The newscaster on the show is not republican, He is an ACTOR PLAYING A PART. He is a fictional character. He is saying whatever the screenwriters tell him to say, nothing more, and none of us know what party the screenwriters lean toward. Saying "the newscaster is a republican", is like saying Leonard Nimoy is a Vulcan. This is what I mean about people blurring reality with fiction, you made my point for me, right there. . |

The same thing is now happening with the constitution. BTW, I am a Liberal, Progressive, Agnostic, Independent, with a deep HATRED for today's Republitard party. The 2 party system sucks, but it is all we have right now. That said, I support Obama - not because he's perfect, but because the other side SUCKS SHIT THROUGH A TUBE! |

Just to say it again, in answer to your post saying "the newscaster is a republican"

Both sides are doing their best to build up their power over you, and you guys just totally buy into the "those other guys are bad" game while they all quietly take over everything. By the time everybody figures it out, and we are all just slaves to the political elite, it's going to be very very VERY painful to reset the system and get our freedom again. .:( . |

Ok. So if someone comes out with a show, where the Character is a "democrat", and that character says the left wing of the democrat party are actually all murderous communists that want to take over and enslave America, and that this movement is taking over the party, will you accept that as a relevent source of information, and that the "democrat" saying it on the show is really a "democrat"??? Come on. Think for a second here. Should any script writer that labels a character as a "democrat" be considered a good represenation of your views or the views of your team? (errrr.... political party) .:helpme |

I found this to be a fascinating episode of Empire.
http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/...418789367.html Regardless of how each party pitches itself, people need to figure out what they want the country to be and how to get it there. Everything else is just petty arguing along the way. |

All people like you do is give the man more publicity. If you really disliked him you would just fucking ignore the chump. |

After watching it, I made a list of the Tea Party/Taliban items that were mentioned:
Sounds EXACTLY like the tea party to me |

as the tea party is not throwing acid at women, or blowing up schools, or suicide bombing, i would say the comparison is trite.
the recent mass shooters, in particular the sikh shooter, have much more in common with taliban then a fox news fueled fad. |

I'm sure we could find some pretty fucked up criminal type people who support Obama. I bet you a whole bunch of gangster ghetto thugs voted for Obama, does that mean all of Obama's supporters are thugs? See how your logic is retarded? |

And he is one helluva good writer too. I think the show is great by the way. But yeah, Sorkin is an extremely liberal Democrat. And the show leans that way very, very hard. But so do most things out of Hollywood. I love the show. I don't really pay attention to the leftist agenda they are pushing though. The underlying concept that the news should be more pure is very viable though. However if you're waiting for Jeff Daniel's character to report on Obama's lies or corruption with funneling "stimulus" money to his cronies...or Harry Reid blocking EVERYTHING in the Senate...well, don't hold your breath. The show is very one-sided in it's politics. |
