Why the world is jealous of Canada!
What do we Canadians
Have to be Proud of? 1. Smarties (not sold in the USA ) 2. Crispy Crunch, Coffee Crisp (not sold in the USA ) 3. The size of our footballs fields, one less Down, and bigger balls. 4. Baseball is Canadian - 1st game June 4, 1838 - Ingersoll, ON 5. Lacrosse is Canadian 6. Hockey is Canadian 7. Basketball is Canadian 8. Apple pie is Canadian 9. Mr. Dress-up beats Mr.. Rogers 10. Tim Hortons beats Dunkin' Donuts 11. In the war of 1812, started by America , Canadians pushed the Americans back past Their White House. Then we burned it, and Most of Washington .... We got bored because they ran away. Then, we came home and partied.... Go figure. 12. Canada has the largest French population That never surrendered to Germany . 13. We have the largest English population That never Eversurrendered or withdrew During any war to anyone, anywhere.EVER! (We got clobbered in the odd battle but Prevailed in ALL the wars) 14. Our civil war was fought in a bar and Lasted a little over an hour. 15. The only person who was arrested in our Civil war was an American mercenary, he Slept in and missed the whole thing. He showed up just in time to get caught. 16. A Canadian invented Standard Time. 17. The Hudsons Bay Company once owned Over 10% of the earth's surface and is still Around as the world's oldest company. 18. The average dog sled team can kill and Devour a full grown human in under 3 minutes. (That's more information than I need!) 19. We know what to do with the parts Of a buffalo. 20. We don't marry our kin-folk... 21. We invented ski-doos, jet-skis, Velcro, Zippers, insulin, penicillin and the telephone. Also short wave radios which save countless Lives each year. 22. We have ALL frozen our tongues to Something metal and lived to tell about it. 23. A Canadian invented Superman. 24. We have coloured money. 25. Our beer advertisements kick ass (Incidently... So does our beer) BUT MOST IMPORTANT ! The handles on our beer cases are big enough To fit your hands in with mitts on. OOOoohhhhh..... Canada !! Oh yeah... And our elections only take one day! |

All Canadian achievements through all history can be summed up in only one thread? :upsidedow
Are you sure? Are you not missing somethings? That`s all?:) The dutch VOC was actually here before The Hudsons Bay Company. At the time The Hudsons Bay Company was set up there was no such thing as Canada or Canadians. At that time in Canada you had European conolization and aborigonals whistling their didgeridoos... or was that Australia:1orglaugh |
William Shatner
Alex Trebek Jim Carrey Howie Mandel Matthew Perry Keanu Reeves Brian Adams Justin Beiber Corey Haim Nickleback On the other hand they did give us Tommy Chong and Leonard Cohen. |
You're missing some of the best!

The top two things are snacks... And not because they're good, but just because the USA doesn't sell them, they're the best things?
Canadians have really lost their identity. |

Not to forget a Canadian invented the original incandescent lightbulb - the patent for which was subsequently sold to Thomas Edison.

At least 90% of your list is about Britain, not Canada.
Including Smarties and the lightbulb: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Swan Edit: and Alexander Graham Bell. WTF. Is this a joke thread? |

Needless to say it was not a popular policy amongst Canadians. We voluntarily listen to Rush, Triumph, April Wine, B.T.O., Chilliwack, Kim Mitchell (Max Webster), Burton Cummings (& Guess Who), Tom Cochrane, Saga, Bryan Adams, Neil Young, Trooper, Pat Travers, Ian Thomas, Honeymoon Suite, Aldo Nova, Loverboy, Helix, Spoons, Doung & the Slugs, Platinum Blonde, Headpins, David Wilcox, Tragically Hip, Jeff Healey (RIP), Shania Twain, Barenaked Ladies, Three Days Grace, Amanda Marshall...to name a few. |

Most Canadians I know agree with the content rule. If not for it the CFL would be the NFL North. |

"Swan's first demonstration of the light bulb was at a lecture in Newcastle upon Tyne on 18 December 1878, but he did not receive a patent until 27 November 1880 (patent No. 4933) after improvement to the original lamp." What were you saying about Bell? |

http://twelvemenonthefield.blogspot....cker-2012.html But like Mutt pointed out, nobody cares, so those 35000+ in Edmo, 23000+ in Hamilton, 22000 in Montreal and Toronto, etc are all obviously illegal aliens and farmers, not real Canadians. But his was an irrelevant point anyway. I cited the CFL as but one example of where Canadian Content rules were applied to preserve our identity. Otherwise every team would be loaded with 100% US players who didn't quite make the NFL cut. Nowhere did I say it was the greatest league since sliced bread, which is the way Mutt took it of course. As for Labret, he of course doesn't seem to realize (or chooses to conveniently ignore) that the USA itself imposes "buy American" policies on it's people. Pharmaceuticals, lumber and beef are a few things that come to mind in recent times. USA first! But if anyone else does it it's worthy of scoff and scorn, right Bubba? |

"Several earlier inventors working on the light bulb had progressed as far in their work as Woodward and Evans: J. B. A. M. Jobard in 1838, C. de Changy in 1856, John Wellington Starr in 1845 and Joseph Swan in 1860. Each contributed to the development of the incandescent lamp, but it was [Joseph] Swan who assembled the necessary components to make the first practical electric light bulb." Quote:
