How many cookbooks do you own?
I own about 70, a little hobby I have. I buy them used for $5-20 each at a couple book stores I visit when I pass by.
Found a website recently http://www.eatyourbooks.com that lets you input your books and then search through the recipes on the site. They don't post the recipes, and don't include common pantry staples like salt, sugar, oil, etc in the recipes. It's useful to see what you need to make a recipe before getting the book out, but when you're ready to make it you're expected to go get the book. I found this code: BLOGCOMP06 that gives you 6 months free with no book limits (normal trial has a limit of 5 books if I remember right). It's a much better way of using your cookbooks if you're like me and have a bunch. |
hahaha im not posting my works.

All my recipes are in my head,I like to read all the different ones online
|
I just check out the flavours and ingredients then make my own version of quality food items I have consumed. Over time they gain more flavour and become part of your repertoire but it is often hard to beat for instance ethnic foods cooked by someone native to that region.
While the appropriations are acceptable, for the full flavour I recommend paying for the real deal. It is good to support your local businesses if they deliver a quality product. |
Probably got 3 or 4 books. These days I tend to check out a couple of recipes on the interne if I want to make anything new. I also follow a couple of youtube chefs.... check out runny runny and cooking with dog on youtube :)

I make it up as I go along. Trained as a chef for 18 months and it gave me some basic rules.

http://i.imgur.com/oxwJc.jpg?5366 I only have one cookbook, the one pictured above. It's all I've ever needed. But I'm tempted to get a second cookbook, the one pictured below, because I enjoy crock pot cooking & savor the authoring of Brigit Binns. http://sublimemanagement.files.wordp...low-cooker.jpg |
I watch 24 kitchen or other TV chanel, and if I like what I see - me and wifey are checking the recipe online, then I help her with preparation of the ingredients, then she's cooking the meal and then we eat.

One: the Anarchist Cookbook ;-)

[blush] I got about 30 or so. All sorts of odd ones like Turkish or Morrocan food. All good though! Yum!

1 from Mortons Steakhouse that I picked up this year. My Fiancee uses Google for everything she wants to try, no need to spend money on cookbooks.
|
I bet a lot of people cook their books here :winkwink:
