we're all fucked to some degree and in different ways. some are able to keep control of it more than others and some are more aware of it than others. at the end of the day we're all just chickens running around with our heads cut off one decision away from destruction or greatness.

People are stupid. No, seriously, people are stupid as in mentally unable of being smart.

I have a friend of mine, John, who has water on the brain. He's had a dozen operations on his brain. Mentally he is frozen in time as if he is sixteen years old. He's medically retired from both the US Post Office and the US Army, functions like a normal adult, but if you talk to him for more than three minutes you discover your talking to a fifty year old teenager.

He drives a big, brand new truck - huge. He drives it like a sports car, stopping short every chance he gets. He's been rear ended four times in three years. He blames these accidents on everyone else saying "Legally they rear ended him". He doesn't understand that when he stops short cars in front of him can't see what's happening in front of him, and they have no idea he's about to stop short. But to him it's not his fault.

He's stupid. He's so stupid and fucked over so many banks that he's no longer allowed to have a debit card. I've never met anyone that can't get a debit card with their bank account.

My point is... Some people function as normal adults when the truth is they are mildly mentally retarded.

Ego, religion and ignorance are pretty much the root of it all.

I'd say the worst problem I've encountered so far, is that people don't know their place. Humility is in the endangered-species list of principles.

This is what happens when a whole generation of spoiled-kid were raised thinking they can all be astronauts and Presidents.

So called "civilized behaviour" is the root.
We've eliminated darwin's role and allowed the fuckups to take over the human race. It's only going to get worse from here.

We see a lot more fucked up people in society these days partially because much of the funding that used to go in to the mental health care system has been cut back - forcing more mentally ill people out on to the streets and in to the public eye.

I also blame an increasing lack of police presence on the streets. In our city you rarely see a cop on foot patrol in the downtown core. And any time you call the police with the need to see an officer, the typical response from dispatch is, "All our officers are busy at the moment...it'll be about two hours."

So fucked up people are enabled to act fucked up with little or no fear of legal consequences.

We also have fucked up kids giving birth and raising children - who were never brought up properly by their own parents. So the situation propagates itself with each successive generation.
