Almost $10 a gallon of gas in Paris
Wonderful. The Eiffel Tower is best be visited by bicycle anyways.
I love it when gas goes up. Less fucking idiots on the road.
Welcome to Europe.
over that anywhere in the UK
A normal price for Europe.
The gas companies aren't making any extra at that price, the governments are... (taxes)
. |
60% goes to the govt in the UK I read today (in the sun, though very much doubt it's an outright lie). Then you pay VAT on the 100% price, so pay tax on the tax - result!
Here in Quebec, Canada price are fucked up... company say they work on 2-3% margin while in Montreal price were like 1.42$ a liter and when I go to my cottage in the wood at 1h15 from Mtl I get my gas for 1.31$ go figure... they have to send the gas over there by truck.... They are just a bunch of thieves, the governement and the oil companies.
anyway do we have the choice? |
its all taxes :2 cents::2 cents:
Guess I wont be going to paris any time soon, lol.

People who pay that much for gas ARE the idiots. They shouldn't be allowed on the roads. I live in Toronto. Its cheaper for me to hire a car to drive me anywhere at anytime than it costs me to park a stinking slab of steel in my driveway. |
Here its $5.29 aus per gallon
Just goes to show how much people will put up with. If they will put up with $10, they will put up with $20.
It sucks I guess...
Jesus that is just too much! Even with nice paychecks in france
I got two cars, both drive 100 KM a day on average. Gas here is more than $2 per liter. That's like $7.5 a gallon.
And my country has enough oil so we export it, why the fuck do I need to pay that much when we export oil... AND we helped invade several countries to get more oil! >< |
It's $4.00 here in NC.
I cant be bothered to do the conversion but I am sure it is more than that here in the UK.
Don't forget that when gas is hi the prices of everything in the shops goes up because they have to get the goods there. Then they get more VAT on those goods and so it goes on. I suspect they get more directly and indirectly from fuel duties than from direct income tax. |
I drive a scooter. Spend $3 - $6 a WEEK depending on how much a drive.

Driving in Paris is hell. use the metro.

We also have high costs of annual registration, for example I pay close to $700 just for basic registration on a '02 Audi (2.5L diesel), no insurance, no anti-theft coverage, nothing.. how much would that be in the states (ballpark)? |

I love how people complain about gas companies making so much money. They have to come up with incredible technical ways to get the oil out of the ground, refine it, etc, and the makea couple of a percent profit. (and yes, with huge volumes in an ever-increasing market that adds up to big money). On average they make 10 USD cents per gallon. On the other hand, the government, which did nothing at all to get the product out of the ground, takes HUGE margins out of the price of gas, and nobody seems to mind paying that at all.... I don't get it, personally. . . |
:Oh crap :Oh crap
Take a taxi or metro in Paris.

The only downside is the people flat out refuse to speak much English to you, it can be a problem but whatever, I don't speak French so they shouldn't be made to pay for my rudeness in their city. I got by just fine. |

What's galon anyway? We use liters in EU..
Here in Sweden It's $2,3 per liter($8,8 per gallon)

Really? As prices in the market go up, (due to supply and demand), VAT also does. Also, the price has not gone up that much recently, compared to the disparity of prices from one region to the next, those price increases, caused by taxes, were implemented some time ago. If taxes in the US and the EU are the same, then why the discrepency in price? Your statement is a complete load of crap. .:) . |

Love that my Jeep is broke. Getting 10mpg with gas nearly $4/gallon is ridiculous. :(
$76/tank and I'd be lucky to get 190 miles per tank. Seriously thinking about picking up a bike and getting rid of the Jeep. |
