Newsweek is on conservative's shit list. That cover is a failing magazine's attempt to get new readers. There was talk of them shutting down sometime this year. That cover is proof they are desperate now.

I agree. Sometimes funny, sometimes really sad, always very scary.

I will never ever understand how ol' Mitt has ANYONE interested in voting for him. The guy can't say a single thing that isn't a lie.

There are a few reasons:

1. They voted for McCain and Simple Sarah in 2008 and never got over losing - they're holding a grudge.

and/or

2. They make well over $250,000 / year and care only about taxes - not the environment, impending war, equal rights for women, LGBT, SCOTUS appointments, etc.

and/or

3. A steady diet of Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, and 100s of other conservatives in the "liberal" media.

and/or

4. Stone racism.

Yup, time for a new president. Anyone is better then OBAMA. In all honesty, our best president as far as I can remember has been clinton. BEST economic president In my lifetime. OBAMA, jas not done shit to better this country and he turned it into a socialistic country. Not what we as americans need.

Love this picture of Bush... That's damn funny.

Re yours:

1- Losing in politics happens. Anyone that thought McCain was going to beat any Democrat challenger was delusional. After 8 years, it's tough to get the incumbent party back in, but Bush had major negatives occurring at that time. It would not have mattered who the GOP put up; they had about a 5% chance of actually winning.

2 - I do care about taxes... hell yeah I do. I want to pay as little as possible and want to earn as much as possible. That's the American way as far as I am concerned. I'm a proponent of fair taxation, not progressive taxation. WTF should the millionth dollar ever be any different than the first dollar earned? That's just legalized theft by the government in my opinion. I worked hard in school, I studied, I did all those things I needed to in order to succeed. Life sucks, but it doesn't work out for everyone. What a great incentive to the next generation to consider succeeding a worthy goal.... .but that's not the way it's currently structured. You get legally "raped" by the establishment in respect to the more money you earn.

re: the environment, equal rights for women, impending war, LGBT, SCOTUS, etc. It's always amazing to me that people are either "right" or "left". No one identifies in the middle, which is where I think 80% of Americans minds are on most things.

Environment - I was a Boy Scout; I probably care about the environment more than most, but I'm not going to be blackmailed into a new viewpoint because of scare tactics. There's ways to accomplish this without attacking everyone.

Equal rights for women - stop placating to groups. Stop women's rights, stop black equality, stop gay equality... blah blah blah. Be American, be equal. Stop thinking we can legislate decency and equality. Teach people to like each other and stop making/allowing groups to segregate. NAACP anyone? LGBT anyone? NOW? KKK? How bout all these groups are helping to perpetuate problems rather than solve them???

LGBT - I love em in porn. I don't think they deserve a political place any more than White Males do as a class. You notice that we can't/won't allow White Males a separate class, but everyone just assumes it's there. White Males are rapidly becoming a very oppressed class (IMO, but I'm sure plenty would disagree and say they deserve it).

SCOTUS - sorry, I feel more conservative appointments are better than liberal appointments. I'd prefer a conservative president have the ability to make those appointments.

3 - Conservative talking heads. Sometimes they say things that are very common sense, other times, it's party line talk. No different than Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews on the other side.

4 - Stone cold racism? Please. Not every conservative wants Obama out of office because he's black. The overwhelming majority want him out of office because he's extremely Liberal. He just happens to have dark skin. If Hillary were President, would that make everyone sexist if they wanted her out? It would be the same thing, except she would happen to be a woman. Stop blaming something convenient. It's merely political and not racial.

Clinton did plenty that fucked up the country as did Bush, as did Bush Sr. as did Reagan and Carter, etc. Too many special interests use the President and his powers... there's certainly got to be a better way than things have been happening.

Heck, by his posts, I always figured he wasn't around in the 80's.

I like George Bush. He just wanted to take over from Clinton and take over the party. Oops! That did not work out for him.

He fucked up, and he listened to some very bad advice. Still - and I'm forty-nine years old - George W. Bush is the only America President I feel I could sit down with, have a few beers, and swap stories with.

I may be way off the mark, but I think W likes to shoot the shit and go fishing.

By no stretch of the imagination am I a "Republican" (I'm Canadian, for Chrissakes!), but GWB did not deserve the shit that was dropped on his lap. He did not have the facilities, the abilities, or a staff competant enough to deal with the nightmares that happened during his Presidency. I doubt anyone - or any administration - could have dealt with 9/11 or Katrina.

In contrast to GWB, Mitt Romney is more fake and plastic than a Ken doll. He has no imagination and no sense of humour. He does not have one single opinion of his own.

Yeah, its pretty sad. A large machine with a 10,000 spokes and everyone is arguing about which spoke is the bigger dickhead.... meanwhile the machine keeps quietly turning, uninterrupted.

Michael, I agree completely that current deficit levels are unsustainable (not to mention the both screwing us silly part), but here's the immediate problem: history has shown that austerity during bad economic times virtually always leads to disaster.

The stimulus packages that began in 2008 were successful in staving off a much deeper recession.

"Since the economy began to falter in 2007, Congress has passed what amounts to three stimulus bills ? a bipartisan $158 billion package of tax cuts signed by President George W. Bush in early 2008; a $787 billion bill pushed by President Obama when he took office in 2009 in the wake of the financial system?s collapse; and a tax cut and unemployment fund extension agreement reached by Mr. Obama and Congressional Republicans in 2010 and extended again to cover 2012.

While Republicans have derided the 2009 stimulus as a failure(1), the consensus among economists has been that it helped stave off deeper job losses and supported a modest recovery.
http://topics.nytimes.com/top/refere...lus/index.html

(1) every single thing O'BlackGuy has done has been derided as a failure by the reps, successful or not.
