Our Story of Death and Survival on the High Sea
I/we recently had an ordeal that saw my better half lose all that is valuable to her. I'm trying get as much cash together as possible to replace the things (glasses, laptop, camera and its associated gear) that she needs to get back to work.
I have plugs and links for sale in this thread. You can read about our story here. You can listen to our radio interview here: Part 1 Part 2 It's a great day to be alive... |

The person in control of any craft here must ensure that every occupant has a well fitting life jacket before departure, add to that obviously no EPiRB or other safety gear is just begging to be let through deaths door. |

Feel free to read or listen to our story...most of what you ask is in there. Quote:

One passenger a non swimmer afraid of the water, another barfing and disoriented. No flare gun. No air horn. Not enough life preservers. Improperly secured drain plug. Wow .....
. |
As a life long boater and studing for my Master's license, (vessels up to 100 tons), that was one of the most irresponsible boating stories I've read in a long, long time....
:( . |
Sounds pretty careless to me.

A EPiRB would have been good. Not sure if that is law here or not. I've done some research but it is incomplete at this time. Quote:

I bet this story is complete and utter BULLSHIT! You will make up 15 MILLION excuses to not verify who you actually. |

I have been working off and on with Freedom as an affiliate for over a year. Aside from the story above, to my basic knowledge of him he is a hard working and decent guy.
I have seen this board drop cash and help for a lot sillier things, so if anyone needs links or what not might want to just help a brother out. Do I agree that he made a stupid mistake, yeah sadly to say, I do but I can say for sure we have all made stupid mistakes in our past. |

You need to ask Paul Markham for advice on begging threads. This one isn't working too well.

Someone on another board kindly offered to send some cash via PP. It's appreciated, but not necessary and I feel funny about the idea, so please don't do that. 3 deals are in the books. A few more and we're good to go. Hit me up in this thread and let's do some business! |

The retired fisherman couldn't swim? Is that fairly common?
Just seems bizarre to me to live your life working on the water and not being able to swim. |

He (and the team from Amateur Dough) run a great program - really didn't want to let that cat out of the bag. |
Seen a lot of charity scams here, I don't give a fuck who cosigned you... no disrespect. You can get some stuff back by selling the computer you're typing on right now... lol

The lack of respect and level of disrespect some of you extrude is jaw-dropping to say the least.
The OP and his lady went through a life-ending experience. Regardless of how ill-prepared anyone was, is not important. Have a bit more respect for human life folks. Someone actually did die and I'm sure the OP and his lady feel like a part of them did die too so if you have any decency left, keep the negative comments to yourself. You'd feel differently if it was one of you involved. |

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip That started from this tropic port Aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, The skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day For a three hour tour, a three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, The tiny ship was tossed, If not for the courage of the fearless crew The minnow would be lost, the minnow would be lost. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle With Gilligan The Skipper too, The millionaire and his wife, The movie star The professor and Mary Ann, Here on Gilligans Isle. So this is the talel of the castways, They're here for a long, long time, They'll have to make the best of things, It's an uphill climb. The first mate and the Skipper too, Will do their very best, To make the others comfortable, In the tropic island nest. No phone, no lights no motor cars, Not a single luxury, Like Robinson Crusoe, As primative as can be. So join us here each week my freinds, You're sure to get a smile, From seven stranded castways, Here on "Gilligan's Isle." Mathieu |
