Ex Marine Held in Hospital for posting on the internet that Gov't officials should be arrested.

I'm sure he's happy he fought for "the land of the free". :thumbsup

Story Here

A Chesterfield County man and Marine veteran is in a local hospital after being picked up by federal and local law enforcement officials concerned about threatening Internet postings.

Brandon J. Raub, 26, was in Hopewell's John Randolph Medical Center on Saturday.

"I'm currently in John Randolph in the psychiatric ward being held against my will," Raub said in a telephone interview.

Reports of his detention Thursday have gone viral on the Internet.

Raub said Secret Service, FBI and Chesterfield police officers came to his home Thursday. "They were concerned about me calling for the arrest of government officials," he said.

He was taken to the Chesterfield police station and then to the hospital, he said.

"I talked to a Secret Service gentleman for 20, 30 minutes," Raub said. "I was very cooperative and answered everything honestly.

"I really love America, and I think that idea that you can be detained and sent somewhere without due process and a lawyer ? is crazy."

Raub said he has been raising questions about 9/11 and signed a petition to reopen investigation of the terrorist attacks.

On Wednesday, Raub posted on his Facebook page, "The Revolution is here. And I will lead it."

On Aug. 11, he posted: "I know many of you think I'm going crazy, and are wondering just why I have been posting the things I have been posting. I don't have the energy to explain. Just know that a new beginning is coming."

An Aug. 5 post said, "If you are unaware of the great amount of evil perpetrated by the American Government I suggest you take ? your head out of the sand. The day of reckoning is almost at hand."

And on Aug. 4, he posted, "I am standing against a great evil. I will do it all by myself if I have to."

"Our office had received a complaint about threatening posts," said Dee Rybiski, spokeswoman for the Richmond FBI office. "As we would do in any circumstance such as this, our office along with Chesterfield Police (Department) officers went to interview Mr. Raub.

"The FBI did not arrest him," Rybiski said. "We are not commenting any further."

Chesterfield police Lt. Rich McCullough said Saturday, "We were assisting the FBI in a matter. All we did was transport" him to John Randolph for medical evaluation.

According to Secret Service spokesman Max Milien in Washington, "That subject was not arrested by us on any charges."

Raub said he served in the Marine Corps from 2005 to 2011 and was a combat engineer sergeant with service in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has a home silver numismatic-coin business.

Raub said he does not own a gun.

kinda weird the 'did not arrest him' but then says 'all we did was transport him'

so they admit to kidnapping someone on the basis of 'writings' that contain no crime?

Will be interesting to hear more of the story and if it was solely based on his FB postings, and what he said. I'm not surprised given all the recent shootings, that they'd want to make sure this guy wasn't another potential shooter.

I would post my thoughts on this article but I'm afraid of being dragged from my home and detained without charges.

Let me see if I understand this correctly... He wants government officials arrested, yet when he himself is arrested for making threats he's not down with that. So he threatens to arrest people then claims he's leading a revolution, and no one sees a problem with this. On top of this, he wants to reopen the 9/11 investigation... Clearly he's a fucking nut case.

Then you have some jackass taking video footage on their cell phone like they have some kind of scoop. Police officer tells him to step back and the video guy says "What are you going to do to me sir?". Fuck off. At that point you fucking deserve to be bitch smacked. Just for being stupid. Then you have the chick asking the officers "Can you please take your glasses off officers?". Shut the fuck up. As if they wouldn't be able to ID the arresting officers at a later date if required.

All of them are fucking nut jobs.

It's like a 5150 hold in California that Britney Spears was put under. They can involuntarily commit you to psychiatric hold for 72 hours to see if you are a threat to yourself or anyone else.

Since everything doesn't have to be a conspiracy theory, this guy probably has PTSD or similar which was noted in his military file. The federal authorities became aware of his rantings, did a quick check on his file, saw that he's had issues and transported him to the hospital for his own safety. If he's declared sane by psychiatrists that have nothing to do with the government then he will be released.

Not at all. He's threatening to "arrest public officials" - which, on the face of it sounds harmless but basically he's saying he wants violate their legal rights without proper grounds and more or less is planning to kidnap them. Being as he doesn't have the legal authority to arrest a kitten, he's more or less threatening people.

Toss in the world "revolution" with the fact he want to re-open 9/11, and in less than a half hour conversation with law enforcement - be it local pigs or FBI or the Secret Service - and they said "clearly he's a threat to someone if only himself" and legally locked him up using a psychiatric which has nothing to do with the Patriot Act and in fact existed long before the Patriot Act.

Think about the stuff that is said here and other places... like the comments sections of newspapers. Those people never stop posting and don't get hauled away. There is more to this story or he has a history.
